COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, crisp, easy-drinking lager which will surprise you with its malty flavour. The carbonation level (gas in beer) is lower than mass-produced beer, so that you are not left with that bloated feeling. The hops we use result in a low level of bitterness. This refreshing lager is an excellent thirst-quencher!

(Bottle, thanks to the worlds greatest sister) Pours dark yellow to pale golden with a white head. The aroma holds bready, straw-ish and grainy malt alongside hints of grass/ herbs, minerals, wax, butter and honey. Only whispers of vegetables (in a rather fresh way). The flavor is light sweet to dry and light bitter. Tones of hay, straw, grain, grass, herbs, minerals, butter, wax and dry honey. Maybe some vegetables. The mouthfeel is watery and fairly clean with medium carbonation. Light herbal and grainy finish. Light bodied.

Bottle at 10 degrees C. A brown yellow beer with a thin tanned head. The aroma is malty sweet and notes of dry grass. The flavor is malty with notes of caramel. The finish is a little bitter. A good SA lager beer.

On tap at my house in Mowbray Cape Town (Keg for a party). I am pretty convinced that the bar gave us a keg of their Amber Ale and not the Boston Lager, but we asked for the Boston Lager and got an unlabeled keg with a Boston Lager tap, so I will go with it for now. Amber pour with a nice white frothy head. Aroma isn’t much. Slight amber malt with some yeast notes if you dig deep. Flavor is simple: nutty, with a pinch of hops to finish. Very easy drinking. It is pretty flat on the palate, which I normally like, but not so much with a very light beer like this one. It is watery, no matter how much C02 we pump into it. Overall: fine, sessionable (I’ve been drinking it all day and night for a buddies 21st Birthday), but nothing special. Also, why is this brewery called BOSTON brewery when the founder and brewmaster is a local South African? I’m surprised their website doesn’t explain the brewery’s name.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of straw. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of caramel, leading to a bitter finish. The mouthfeel is sparkling, and the body is thin. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
