Cask, handpump at The Old Oak, Horsley Woodhouse,Derbyshire 29-01-10 Has a wonderful aroma, lovely hoppiness and then creamy vanilla, cornish cream, great stuff and really vying with the Thornbridge Kipling that Loz was supping in the aroma stakes. Nice buzzy bitterness, creamy fruitiness, crisp. Golden in colour with a white bubbly rim of bubbles. A beer that I stopped writing about and just sat back and enjoyed, lovely stuff. A Mes rate. Gravity at Merton Beer Festival as "Merton Turtle". This beer summed up the festival for me. Firstly, it was bloody gorgeous, second, Mr Festival Organiser insisted on it being on the house (thank you very much sir) and thirdly Fin vanished with freshly poured beer in hand and came back with a bag of jelly sweets shaped like turtles... "If you’re gonna drink a turtle, you need a turtle..." Who am I to argue. Anyway, beer ahoy... Slightly hazy yellow brown with no head but no matter. Gorgeous bitter hop and earthy malt aroma. Not complex, not challenging, just gorgeous. Pretty much exactly the same in the mouth. Light citrus, some hay and earth, lots of grass and a delicate floral hint in the finish. Beautifully balanced throughout. A gem and typically English. I drank this in what was some superb evening sun listening to some good quality fiddle and guitar on the stage whilst watching happy drunk people dancing around like nothing mattered and feeling thoroughly happy with everything. Bit of a sloppy rate but yeah, thanks a whole bunch Fin and Loz.

Pale hop aroma. Golden coloured hoppy floral and pale with a hint of bitterness and earthiness in a crisp and dry malt finish.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest 2010. Gold with white head. Good tasty dry bitter with fruity, apricot like hops. However in this there was a touch of butterscotch that pulled it down a little. Otherwise pretty good.
