Cask, handpump at The Guildford, Edinburgh in company of Craig & Loz 29.10.10 The lady behind the bar raved about this beer and she was right it was jolly decent. Strange to come to Edinburgh to find a Bottle Brook beer when its my dad’s local beer and I have it plenty when I’m up to Derbyshire to see him. Pours black with a light beige head, some bitterness, roastiness and hoppiness show straight away. There is coffee and smokiness starting to make an appearance. Great beer. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov17 3.7

Rated because I’ve just drank it at the brewery tap and more people have rated Bottle Brook beers than me. It’s not rauchbier, it’s not like smokey bacon crisps (as the bloke next to me announced to the bar), it’s really smooth with that hint of cream about to go off, the smoke is in-built rather than in-your-face, its a joy to knock back after an eight mile yomp through the snow to get get here.

A Mes rate. Gravicask at Pigs Ear. Very dark brown with a thin tan head and good condition. Nice smoky malt and chocolate with some slight cheesy funk and a good lick of bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable. Jolly good stuff.
