9/14/13. 12oz bottle from Exit 18. Dark amber red pour with a nice khaki head that fades and almost laces in rings. Malty aroma, sweet with a touch of chocolate, plenty of caramel and toffee lingering in there. Sweet, sweet flavor, like a caramel candy bar (wish this was dry and on nitro) with toffee and just barely a bitter, roasty aspect if you search for it. Lingers a touch less sweet, but caramel lingers in the flavor. Not bad.

Red pour with a white head. The aroma is full of dirt with some tea and grass notes. The flavor is pretty much the same, with a hint of bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Aromas are mostly malt focused, caramel, almonds, with some dark, cherry-like fruity notes. Clear ruby with a lasting, beige head. Off-dry and almost salty, with some nutty and woody flavors. Medium bodied with fluffy carbonation, and finishes leaving behind dry, earthy flavors.

12oz bottle 7/21/3 (Judicious Spirits)44° in Hurricane Glass-Pours a darl ruby red with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and toffee. Taste of the same with a bit of alcohol. This medium bodied brew is not bad as I was expecting more.

From bottle. Chocolate, some Twizzlers, musty and grainy with light metallic nose. Roasted barley. Dark coppery amber clear with light amber lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts a little sweet and bitter with caramel, roasted barley, and mild hops. Medium grainy and lingering bitter finish. Mild sweet nutty after and lingering bitterness.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of caramel malts and earthy hops. Dark red hue with a large light tan head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Very sweet and lightly bitter flavor. Palate is heavy bodied and oily with average carbonation. Overall a very tasty brew.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 A deep rustic red pour with a nice floral scent. Gives a strong yet not overpowered bitter taste and a fresh finish for a imperial red

This is a new-to-me NC brew. I’ve seen around for a bit, but never grabbed any. My curiosity finally reached its peak, and snagged some last week. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a really dark mahogany, very rusty looking. A small beige head rests on top. The aroma is really sweet with graham cracker, sherry notes, booze, cherries. An odd scent for an Amber Ale. Expected a bit more hops in the nose, but nothing. The mouth is alright. A bit slick at times, mild warming alcohol noted. The alcohol comes out quite a bit in the flavor. The 7.5% is not hidden at all. Dark fruit flavors of raisin and cherry. Port-like finish. Molasses and crackers on the back end. This one was odd. The flavors were sort of muddled and all over the place. No real hop presence noted. This is just a boozy fruity beer that I would pass on in the future.
