Copper with a small white head. Looks kinda like anchor steam in the glass. I just had a flashback to being a kid and watching my parents drink anchor steam and bass ale at the table and what the beer looked like, smelled like, and on occasion what it tastes like. Nose is nutty and grainy. Flavor is malty, less grainy but its still present, metallic finish. Slightly bitter finish.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of caramel malts and earthy hops. Dark red hue with a large light tan head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Very sweet and lightly bitter flavor. Palate is heavy bodied and oily with average carbonation. Overall a very tasty brew.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 A deep rustic red pour with a nice floral scent. Gives a strong yet not overpowered bitter taste and a fresh finish for a imperial red

This is a new-to-me NC brew. I’ve seen around for a bit, but never grabbed any. My curiosity finally reached its peak, and snagged some last week. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a really dark mahogany, very rusty looking. A small beige head rests on top. The aroma is really sweet with graham cracker, sherry notes, booze, cherries. An odd scent for an Amber Ale. Expected a bit more hops in the nose, but nothing. The mouth is alright. A bit slick at times, mild warming alcohol noted. The alcohol comes out quite a bit in the flavor. The 7.5% is not hidden at all. Dark fruit flavors of raisin and cherry. Port-like finish. Molasses and crackers on the back end. This one was odd. The flavors were sort of muddled and all over the place. No real hop presence noted. This is just a boozy fruity beer that I would pass on in the future.

Light aroma hides the full palette of this for imperial red. I’m glad the bar tender gave me this to try. One of my new favorites!

Strong, malty aroma has notes of caramel, cloves and horehound. Pours a dark translucent chestnut with a fairly thick light cinnamon-tan head. Rich flavor has a malty and woody hoppy core with notes of caramel and cloves and some hoppy bitterness. Smooth texture has a good amount of fizz and leaves a woody, somewhat bitter finish. Drink no evil indeed!

Sampled from a bottle. Pours a clear dark ruby color with a thin tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of toffee malts, earthy hops and pale malts. The taste is toffee, earthy notes, crackery malts and a bitter finish. Medium bodied. Decent.

Bottle. A nice red when poured with a nice head. Has an aroma of caramel and whiskey. The taste is smooth with a nice blend of fruit, caramel, toffee, hops and overall a nice boozy burn. Completely shocked this is as tasty as it is, really didn’t expect much from this one! 7.5% abv.
