Big thanks to Andre for providing this rare bomber, poured into a tulip. Pours dark, dark brown with mahogany hints around the edges and a short-lived tan head that receded to nothing and left no lacing. The aroma is dominated by deep roasted malts with dark chocolate and roasted espresso. There is also a little bit of caramel malt sweetness in the background alongside some vanilla. The taste has the same dark roasted malt backbone with a vanilla and chocolate sweetness up front that gives way to a bitterish espresso finish that actually still seems to have the faintest hop presence as well. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with minimal carbonation and very dry and roasted in the finish. This is a solid impy stout that has great flavors but could benefit from a slightly fuller body as it seemed a tad light to be world class.

An old rating, from notes. A thick, black beer. Aroma has heavily roasted malt and red wine. Low carbonation. The flavor has more wine and a sour, vinous quality. I don’t know if this is intentional, but it works fantastically well, combined with the rich malt flavors of coffee and chocolate. An excellent beer, too bad it is gone.

22 oz bottle. Pours a flat black body with a small fizzy brown head that completely dissapated quickly. The nose is intensely roasty and chocolaty with a touch of slight oxidation, but it works really well. Some light roast and coffee notes. The flavor is thick and intense with loads of roasted maltiness, dark bitter chocolate, some light oxidation, moderate alcohol, and a little earthiness on the finish. As it warms licorice and black strap molassas notes gain strength. Mouthfeel is full and thick with a slight clingy stickiness. Plenty of fizzy carbonation still going on in here after four years. This beer is as intense and full flavored as it gets. This could still go a few years I think.

Bomber I got via trade eons ago, in the early days of trading. As I was going through my cellar to move much of it off site, I thought, hey maybe its time to drink this one. Shared with Tim and Andrew and Chris and Eric at Toronado today. Great carbonation, his has held up well. Pours black with a nice light brown head. Nose is sweet with chocolate and something I can’t put my finger on. Taste is nice, with an up front coffee bitterness.

bomber - thanks after4ever; jet black with thin tan head; musky, oaky aromas with vanilla and touch of sour; dry, meaty, earthy and overall quite smooth going down; sweet with a definite smoky note; thin bodied with dry finish; quite nice and one I wish I had tried when fresh

Bottle, at Liquid Sunshine. Pours deep black, loads of dasrk tan head. Great lacing. Nose is very roasty, chocolate, soy, vanilla. Big, mildly boozy palate. Good, but not brilliant.

Black bodied with chocolate underpinning, but completely lifeless body. Roasty aroma with perhaps toasted oatmeal--thoroughly enjoyable. Medium-roasty body with alcohol tinglyness. Flat body rolls over the tongue a bit to easily--a bit more carbonation might prick some more senses out of this one. Chocolate flavor. Roast chocolate alcohol finish. Flavors keep you haning, and don’t seem to quite develop to their potential.

Bottle@TheWolf. Pours black with no head. Aromas of licorice, hops, vanilla, rasted malt, chocolate and some tobacco. Flavour of coffee, licorice and slight smoky. Dry and hoppy.

Black with a small tan head. Aroma of licorice and chocolate, with oak all rather vineous. Dryish roasted flavour with charcoal notes and some oak. A note of sweet licorice drops in before a roasted finish.

Bottle. Blindtasting @ Thewolf. Pours pitch black with a creamy brown head. Nose is tar, roast, coffee, burnt malts. Taste extremely dry - again roast. Coffee and liquorice. Smooth and full bodied. Dry end. Nice one.

Bottle. Low whit and fluffy quickly disappearing head. Pitch black body. Powerful marcipan coffee vineous aroma. Strong roasted malt flavor with coffee liquorice and a nice bitterness. Low carbonation. Long aftertaste.
