SuzyGreenberg (1028), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle - 2004 vintage; pours dark brown with tan head fading quickly; lots of haze and some floaties; very sweet, woody, bready and musky; caramel, dates and sugar; drinks rich and smooth with very slight oxidation; body is thin with a dry, fruity finish; very nice and syrupy sweet; i thought this was fantastic, especially given the age Taverner (475), San Ramon, California, USA Oct 1, 2008 Updated: Oct 2, 2008Syrupy mess - it may have sat too long. Bottled in 2004. Lots of raisin notes, leather, and molasses. Good on palate, and finishes dry. Meh AgentSteve (831), SF Bay Area, California, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottle shared by Taverner, pours opaque burnt caramel with a thin cream colored head. The nose is overly sweet and dried fruits. The flavor is quite the same, with some molasses, dried fruit and more sugars. Just too sweet. santoslhalper (184), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 9, 2008 Thanks to Nate for sharing! Chunky brown body with a rich beige head. The smell is woody, almost whiskey like, with soy sauce, caramel, molasses, Twizzlers (good call Nate), and doughy notes, with some oxidized, corn/cardboard. Very rich and heavy taste with big fig, plum, and date notes. Molasses, honey, chocolate, cinnamon, butter, and corn. Not bad, but not easy to drink. Kinda finishes like a headache. Nate (2253), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 7, 2008 From 2004 bottle. Lots of Twizzlers and caramel, cooked corn in the nose of this one. No hops. Not bad, just Twizzlers and molasses. Copper brown, clear with major brown chunks floating in there. Topped with light tan foamy lacing head. Medium heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with raisin, Twizzlers, molasses, and light yeasty chalky character. A bit oxidized with some cooked veggies. Light dry nutty bitter finish and smooth with light sweet chalky after. Decent, but not spectacular.
