schuimkroaat (385), Leuven, Belgium Jul 7, 2005 Draught, 10de Mechelse Bierdag, 3rd July 2005, Mechelen. Apricot colour, very hazy, very fine sparkle. Loses a point on the small, unstable, irregular white head. Heavy, sticky sweet aroma with aniseed and hops. The taste is very (hoppy) bitter and dry, slightly fruity and with just a touch of sweet wine; otherwise surprisingly little sweetness after that aroma. Very long bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied, some prickleness. Did we all here rate the same beer? Jerre (1422), Waregem, Belgium Oct 8, 2008 Hazy amber color, with white head. Aroma malts, fruits, spice, and bit yeast. Medium body. Taste malts, bit caramel, spices and fruits, some yeast.
Not bad.
oh6gdx (6460), Vaasa, Finland Sep 26, 2008 Bottled@Fonefan. Hazy golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is hops, fruits and some mild sour wooden notes. Flavour is fruits, wood and some mild yestyness as well as burnt sugar. With the yeast put in, this loses it’s character. JorisPPattyn (4638), Antwerpen, Belgium Sep 23, 2008 Updated: Sep 30, 2008Huge fluffy head, as whipped eggwhite, very persistent over (cold)hazy copperish beer. Malts, coloured malts and a cheesy aroma; later aromatic malts, faint hops and probably white candi sugar. Slightly vegetal, malty, human sweet, caramel flavours. Palate, however, is sourish, slightly fruity. Medium bodied, slick. Spritzy MF. Decent. "Bruine Beer" translates to "Bière Ambrée"??? HEIN? larsniclas (3079), Gothenburg, Sweden Nov 8, 2005 Bottled. Delirium Cafe, Gothenburg, Sweden.
Hazy orange, huge white head.
A bit papery, sweetsih aroma.
Notes of fruit in the flavour. Dry and grassy with some alco-feel.
