RATINGS: 88   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.17   EST. CALORIES: 345   ABV: 11.5%
A swarm of flavor and a stinger at 11.5% ABV. The French saison yeast produces big, estery, phenolic aromas and flavors, while the wildflower honey from Madhava Natural Sweeteners in Longmont CO lends a spicy, sweet aroma with essence of dried fruits. Champagne yeast is also used to complete fermentation and create a dry finish, and a strong malt bill imparts a rich, golden honey color to the ale.

22oz bottle, shared with friends. Clear orange amber color. Thin white head. Decent ridges and bits of lace. Honey, caramel. Mild spice. Pretty basic flavor, not much to it. Does seem to hide the alcohol pretty well, though. Not as boozy as expected. Mild floral, touch of cooked vegetable. Moderate to bigger sweet taste. Very little bitter. Bite only noticeable when you take too big of a sip. Touch of white grape. Bigger body. Kind of slick texture. Light carbonation. Kind of a boring, uninteresting belgian strong ale.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell. Pours a clear orange-cold color with a medium fluffy off-white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, honey and spices. Medium to full body with flavors of grainy malt, sweet honey, herbs and fruit. The finish is borderline cloyingly sweet herbal honey and malt. Slightly above average overall.

Nice saison with high alcohol due to the honey. A little bit thicker which is why I think the low ratings but a good beer.

22 oz bomber purchased at the brewery for 3 bucks. Orange and clear appearance with a small off-white head. Aroma of honey, banana, apricot, esters, phenols, clove, dried fruits, alcohol and Belgian yeast. Flavor is strong, syrupy, sweet and a bit boozy with light bitterness. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Kind of hard to drink after a few sips. A bargain for sure, but definitely one for sharing.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s minidig 16/08/2014. Golden orange coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is mineral, nutty malts and some honey on the nose. Nice saison yeast and some orange skin on the nose. Flavour is resin, caramle, saison yeast and honey. Hot alcohol and solvent in the finish. Palate is semi-sweet, heavy on the tongue and highish carbonation. Ok.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Light honey flavor and scent. Doesn?t linger. Very upfront, was hoping for an after effect. Saison was light but made well enough to not overpower the honey. Deep amber color. Bottle

Bottle shared at chriso’s Post-GBBF 2014 Tasting - London. Pours perfectly clear, bright amber-gold with a frothy white head. The nose holds some doughy bread, light toffee. Very, very sweet, with toasted sugars, yeasty bread, candi sugars and old oranges. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Super sugary finish with grains, candi sugar, yeast and doughy wheat. So so.

22 oz. Color is a murky amber gold with an orange hue, thin head in the tulip. Aroma is honey with honey and more honey.

The flavor has caramel, sweet bready malts and sugar. The body has some yeastiness with honey of course. Very sweet without being completely cloying. ABV is hidden throughout. The classification of a Belgian Strong ale is correct. I like it but it is very simple, more like a carbonated mead.

Thanks Brenda. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds. Light lacing stuck and then started sliding into the beer after a minute. The smell had a decent amount of light sweet bready material with a slight Belgian sugary candy - ness inside of an earthy yet weird dried honey sweetness to allow a light spice to it. The taste was mainly earthy, sweet and spicy. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. It came across slightly syrupy and the carbonation seemed fairly smooth and good for the style. Overall, I say this was an okay Belgian ale. Whether it’s a saison or Belgian Strong Ale, this one is what it is - okay to me.
