COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A swarm of flavor and a stinger at 11.5% ABV. The French saison yeast produces big, estery, phenolic aromas and flavors, while the wildflower honey from Madhava Natural Sweeteners in Longmont CO lends a spicy, sweet aroma with essence of dried fruits. Champagne yeast is also used to complete fermentation and create a dry finish, and a strong malt bill imparts a rich, golden honey color to the ale.

Transfer from BA review on 2-28-12- Served on tap in a snifter glass Appearance – Served a clear amber color with a one finger white head. The head has a light level of retention fading over time to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is sweet and wheaty. A strong wheat aroma mixed with a light fruit aroma of grapes, pear and peach create the bulk of the smell. Mixed with these is a lighter honey aroma as well as a little bit of notes of a floral like aroma. Overall it is quite pleasant. Taste – The taste begins with a bready flavor with a little bit of wheat mixed within. With these more malty tastes, is a sweet flavor of caramel and honey upfront. The caramel is soon lost, but the honey flavor persists throughout the taste. In the middle of the taste flavors of light fruits of grape and pear enter and last till the end. Flavors of some alcohol and a bit of bitterness and sourness comes to the tongue more at the end of the taste. These flavors actually help round out some of the sweeter flavors, in the end leaving a rather nice warming and semi-sweet flavor to be left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is average as well. The medium body and higher carbonation (at least for a brew of 11.5%) was good for the sweeter flavors of the brew, but was not too over the top in thinness or carbonation to take away from the more boozy and malty flavors of the brew. Overall- Its packs a sweet punch upfront and is quite high in alcohol, but still maintains a nice easy drinkability about it. I rather enjoyed this beer and would recommend it as a good sipper after dinner or a nice dessert style brew.

Sampled from bottle @ ChrisO after GBBF day 3. Clear orange golden color, average sized white head. Aroma is lightly malts, quite yeasty, indeed some honey and some herbs or spices. Taste malts, quite a lot of honey, herbs and spices, sweetish, lightly alcohol. Average body, medium carbonation. Not my beer, but I can’t say there are real flaws in it.

22oz bottle, amber with caramel and lightly earthy aromas, full bodied and almost syrupy, lightly spicy, honey notes, sugggestive of a hoppy, earthy eiswein. Pretty good, though it becomes cloying.

Bottle pour into a snifter. Pours a hazy gold with a white head of foam. The aroma is very sweet and sugary and near boozy. The taste is very sweet and surprisingly the alcohol is unnoticeable. I didn’t even realize it was 11.5% until I got on here to log my rating. That part is nicely done, but overall the beer just wasn’t my thing. Medium carbonation and slick mouthfeel.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2014 Draft at Good Dog. Cloudy copper pour with a nice white foam top. Dark amber brown fruits. Apricot pits. Autumn leaves with bitter honeycomb. Starfruit. Quince. Caramel covered golden delicious apples. Worth a try.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a two inch beige head. Taste is of malt, caramel, honey, spice and wheat. Similar aroma. Has a decent body with a warming finish. Not bad, but a little quirky.

Light brown with a pale head. Aroma is honey, brown sugar, caramel, raisins. Full bodied, sticky mouthfeel, sweet on the palate, warming finish. Taste is caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee. Not bad, but in no way a saison - a Belgian Golden Strong maybe.

Tap. Hazy golden amber, tiny beige head. Aromas of malt, honey, green apple. clove, spice, and booze. Flavor is the same, sweet with a warm end. Medium to full bodied.

Poured a very cloudy orange brown color with a thin off-white head. Aroma has lots of fruit, honey, and yeast notes. Some sweet candy and caramel as well. Taste is very flavorful with lots of fruit, honey, and malts. Alcohol is surprisingly well hidden. Finish is a bit malty with some caramel and more honey. Overall the flavors blend pretty well together and it is a good combination.
