A swarm of flavor and a stinger at 11.5% ABV. The French saison yeast produces big, estery, phenolic aromas and flavors, while the wildflower honey from Madhava Natural Sweeteners in Longmont CO lends a spicy, sweet aroma with essence of dried fruits. Champagne yeast is also used to complete fermentation and create a dry finish, and a strong malt bill imparts a rich, golden honey color to the ale.

On tap at UJs. Golden pour with foamy white head. Smells funky and floral like a sour, but aromas of honey, dough, banana on the tongue. Moderate/high sweetness, low bitterness. Full bodied and dry. Interesting beer. I’m surprised that this has been getting relatively low ratings.

From tap at Stub and Herbs. Pours hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is fruity and light toasted malty. Sweet, overripe fruity and phenolic. Smooth and phenolic, fruity lingering into an overripe fruity finish.

Aroma of honey malts, white grape, some dough. Appearance is tinted gold with white head. Flavor is kinda phenolic with some dough and honey; alcohol is present, but not overwhelming. Palate is medium, creamy and very soft. Fine.

Interesting that this is classified as a Belgian Strong Ale, because I was thinking that it was too heavy, too boozy, just too much to be saison. I get a little honey and lemon, and bit of over the top alcohol. Nothing very unique. In fact, we ended pouring a lot of it out just because we didn’t want to choke down an 11% beer when we have a fridge full of stuff we like...

Draught. Pours a light amber color with a moderate head. Nose is both sweet and sour, which is a bit odd. The honey comes through in both the taste and nose, but the sourness of the style dominates. Finishes with a bit of a bite.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Honey and yeast aromas. Soft with sweet caramel upfront turning to dusty yeast and mild earthy bitterness before the lasting hot, sweet honey finish.

650 ml. Clear amber-copper with a lasting disc topping of bubbles. Nose is at first honey-mead like, then turns to some pear, grape must, spicy mango, light caramel apple, and white wine. Front tastes of pear poached in white wine, tart and rusty apple, clove bubblegum and earthy honeycomb. Menthol, citrus and light bitter pith on the finish help to dry a bit. Medium-heavy body is slightly sticky sweet, but finishes plenty dry with some alcohol warmth. Low-medium carbonation is nice. My Spidey sense tells me that this is a quality brew, but my tastebuds get a bit too much sweetness and phenolic flavors for their liking.

Tap. Slightly reddish orange pour with a smaller white head. Lots of bread and sweet fruit esters. Cannot believe the ABV - you’d never know it. Decent brew.

Draft at Rattle with Npodendorf. Pours orange amber with an off white head. Sweet honey and light fruity notes, some lighter spicy notes, wheat, and rich yeasty notes. The alcohol is really well covered. Decent.
