Draft on nitro. Looks like a dark brown stout. No carbonation. Kind of watery despite the appearance. Gotta retry it again off nitro

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Shared with Strykzone via Facebook Chat. Poured a copper color with a big beige head and very attractive lacing. Nose of ripe fruit and floral hops. Roasted malts in the aroma. Medium in body with a very smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is strong, with lots of malts that shows some fruit and chocolate, and some bitterness. The finish is flavorful and tasty as well. Very nice beer.

December 30th, 2011 - Foundation histories are always so wonderful that I end up being skeptical. It’s like discovering for the first time that Disneyland isn’t some magical little empire with mutually recognized autonomy in California, but a well run business supported by hordes of engineers and employed summer youth. Reality makes you cringe, you look away, and then turn back to see that old image again. Much the same applies to brewery histories, including that behind Boulder Brewing Co.’s Flashback. I love the idyllic image of two prescient young brewers brainstorming this hybridized beer: an India Brown Ale. True or not, the story leads to a fine beer. Dark brown in color and a bit dusky, it shows off its brown ale features with pride. Conversely, the aroma exhibits the Cascade hops - pine and honey, sharp yet sweet. It’s toothsome and inviting, like an Imperial IPA. The flavor is clean and straightforward like a brown, but armed with that rapier sharp hops profile. Mild flavor, moderate body, straightforward and honest, this is a beer that is what it says it is: a brown ale with lots of Cascade, and I have to say, I like it. I love context, and I love the story behind the Flashback, but I think I like the beer even more.

A little on the bitter side, start and finish. Decent mouth feel, but that flavor profile is rough.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours amber with a tan head and toasty aroma of malts and fruits. Taste is toasty as well, of malt, hops, fruits, and caramel with a bitter finish. Solid beer.

Nitro dispense at Mahaffery’s, Baltimore - 22/05/12.
Dark brown amber pour with a good fingers worth of off-white head.
Darkish malts and a little nut on the nose, overall quite muted - I don’t normally bother with nitro for these reasons!
Earthy hops in the taste, roast malts follow, a little coffee at the rear.
Medium bodied, a little too cold (nitro!) and average carbonation.
Need to re-rate on non - nitro!
