COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Magic happened this year in Boulder, CO, when local music and local beer came together. In search of the perfectly drinkable, yet flavorful, festival beer, the Boulder Beer brewers and avid homebrewer Kyle Hollingsworth, Keyboardist of the String Cheese Incident, joined creative forces. Imagination and improvisation flowed freely, and Hoopla was born.

Hoopla Pale Ale is dry-hopped with generous amounts of Glacier hops for a fruity, floral hop aroma and flavor that will have your taste buds dancing! Its lively hop character is wonderfully balanced with a crisp, clean finish from the unique blend of US and German grains, making Hoopla the perfect companion to festival season.

“We wanted to make a beer that was hoppy, but still appetizing to non-hop-drinkers and drinkable on hot days at summertime festivals,” Kyle explains about the recipe.

Standard pale’s floral pine-hop smell, deep orange and not quite clear. Taste is surprising, with more malt noticeable than hops, but still bitter and even a little skunky. Decent bite from medium body. Takes a few sips to get used to, but ok. From a jam band musician no less.

Draft pour. Pours a pale yellow with a white head of foam. The aroma is floral and grainy. The tastes is sweet and grainy, with not much of a hop profile. Mild bitterness. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Pours a pretty golden Amber with a thin eggshell head. Malty aroma has subtle fruit and hoppy hints. Flavor has a strong woody hop overtone, which the malty core supports quite well; a whisper of fruit sneaks through. Texture is fairly firm and fizzy, leaving a hoppy finish. Heed the hoopla and grab a crater!

Transfer from BA review on 4-9-14- Poured from can into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a nice golden amber color with a big foamy head of a white color. The head has a great level of retention, very slowly fading to leave a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a bready and grainy smell mixed with some nice aromas of a more fruity nature. The fruit is a nice mix of citrus and tropical fruit smell with an orange mingling with some mango and papaya. Along with these aromas are some smells of a grassy and grapefruit hop as well as a bit of an earthy and hay-like aroma overall producing a rather inviting aroma. Taste – The taste begins with a bready and slightly grassy flavor mixed with some lighter sweetness of a light fruit nature. The light fruit, which consists of an orange, apple and pear flavor, is very mild, with it growing even more so as the flavor advances to the end of the taste. While the sweeter flavors dwindle, so too does the bready flavors, with them being replaced by a more cracker like taste. Toward the end of the flavor profile, the grassy flavor gets slightly stronger in nature with it being joined by a light hay-like and earthy hop flavor, which in the end, leave a rather crisp and clean taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side as well. The blend of body and carbonation are fantastic for the malty and moderately hoped flavors of the brew all while still maintaining an easy drinking and crisp feel for the brew. Great for the style. Overall – This was a very easy drinking and rather tasty APA. I rather enjoyed this one and will certainly go back to it.

"Undated can, new to Reno 3 weeks ago. Tasted and smelled medium fresh. Liked the fruity tropical aroma ad flavor going on, haylike backbone, light biscuit and caramel malt. Simple, tasty. Lower scores around the 50th percentile on rb...I thought it slightly above average and sessionable. "

Festive can. Aroma is very hoppy be at first. Lots of pine. Then it mellows out into a sweetish malty affair. Clear burnt orange beer. Ivory head. Clean, hoppy, woody. Not terribly interesting, but drinkable. ABC Liquors, Betton.
