3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Advent beer #11 - 12oz bottle with a 2013 date on it. clear for the style. Nose is new shoe smell. Sip adds caramel, herbal hops, and a little citrus. balanced taste-wise. Not what I expect from a barley wine, but a decent beer nonetheless.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2013 vintage, poured from bottle, pours a clear dark amber red with an off white head and spotty lacing, aroma is pretty sweet, decent amount of caramel and dark fruits, a little hot on the nose as well, the flavor is overly sweet on the front end, tons of caramel and fruits, the finish is sweet as well with a little bit of the burn from the alcohol, kind of a funny mouthfeel, maybe this would be a different a little down the road, but this one fresh is just really hot and sweet, meh.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bomber from Evergreen Discount, vintage 2010, poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Caramel colored and cloudy with a small tan head and light lacing. The aroma is caramel malts, fruity esters, brown sugar, light alcohol, vanilla, wood and earth. Similar flavor adding milk chocolate, leather, medium plus sweetness and light bitterness. Nice full body with a creamy, smooth mouth feel and low carbonation. A little sweet, but itís pretty mellow and seems to have aged quite well. Overall, a rich, malty and semi-sweet barley wine that gets better with age. Cellarable for at least 3-4 years. Easily the best thing Iíve ever tasted from Boulder Beer Co.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at a party. Snifter. Pours a golden apple cider looking with a thin white head. Some lacing. Aroma was odd with booze, malts, sugars and spices. Taste was similar. Kind of a weird mix of flavors that didnít seem to tie all together. Medium to full body. Finish was boozie and some barrel. Medium carb. Not my favorite Bwine.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Light amber in color with an off-white and foamy head. Smells of Oktoberfest malts, with some floral hops. Tastes like an IPA sweetened with Robitussin. Did they age this in Robitussin bottles? Thin mouth feel. Strange beer. Glad I didnít pay for this.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 1/31/2010. Pours lightly cloudy deep ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, raisin, plum, pear, apple, floral, light pine, brown sugar, light nuttiness, and toasted/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/toasted malt and dark fruit notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, raisin, pear, plum, apple, nuttiness, floral, light pine, brown sugar, and toasted/yeast earthiness. Slight pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, raisin, pear, plum, apple, nuttiness, floral, light pine, brown sugar, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt and dark fruit flavors; with a great malt/fruitiness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice barleywine style. All around good complexity and balance of malt and dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

1.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
From a bottle this is some really strong happy BS. Smells a little perfumy scary, malty and sweetly volatile. Its difficult for me to appreciate these beers for what they are without years and years of aging. Thick and viscous it looks sitting in the glass. Looks like a darker cloudy hefe. Perhaps the looks of a lighter dunkelwesen. Wow, just the smallest sip leaves a kick ass impression in the mouth. How could this every be a beer by cheap lager standards? Never. More like the rudest wine Iíve ever tasted. Should not be in the same style as Harveyís. Nasty Nellie, may I say? Very difficult fer sure. No co2 or any I can detect over the mouthy impact in the flavors. Forgettabout it. wew. put this in a trunk in your attic fer 10 years and hope you never find it. Did penguins accidently do droppings in this before it was fermented? Do you think it would develop those sherry qualities after 10 years? If you are into American wannah bee barley wines, try this and ignore my numbers, could never figure out the purpose of these brews.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured 2012 from bottle to glass. Amber with nice creamy off-white head. Suspended particles. Good head retention and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is malt forward with essence of raisins, brown sugar, plums, citrus, caramel, alcohol esters. Taste is sweet with a slight CO2 bite to help offset the malt bomb. Faint ethanol finish, but very nice. Phenominal mouthfeel! Medium-Heavy body offers slight chewyness. Overall, this is a great domestic interpretation of an English Barleywine and I canít wait to see how it develops with more age.

12oz bottle. Pours a medium ruby-brown color with a half finger of off white head that falls to a ring. Aroma of thick caramel, nougat, molasses and rich malts. The flavor is very sweet brown sugary malts and melon with a light alcohol and hop finish. Medium body with very little carbonation.
