Ungstrup (11692), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 22, 2008 Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and fruit. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of both fresh and over ripe fruits. The sweetness makes it a bit cloying. Thanks Papsoe for sharing. Papsoe (11030), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 30, 2007 (Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of markgugs. Clear, amber golden with a dense, shaving foam-style like head. Aroma of overripe fruit and sherry. The body is surprisingly only medium with a little caramel and overripe fruit in there. Discreetly bitter. Fairly average Barley Wine. 191207 omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 19, 2006 Draught at Rose and Raindrop, Portland. Clear nut brown. Grassy lemon juice aroma. Somewhat syrupy and vinous with thick mouthfeel. Creates a sweet/sour sensation that I’m not terribly sure I like. Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 20, 2007 Bright copper colour. Rich nose - caramel, earthy hints and chocolate. Fairly thin, which doesn’t allow for a true BW impact. Both malt and hop are really standard for the style - anyone familiar with this style at all will be like "yup, that’s a barley wine" and then move on. joergen (6814), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 20, 2007 Bottle.
Clear orange brown coloured with an off white head.
Sweet aroma of caramel, dried fruits, cookies and hops.
