maltdog (432), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 10, 2008 The lovely pale, peach-blushed amber ale sports minimal foam but plentiful finely-beaded lace. Soft resiny/fruity aromas remind me of canned pears, caramel, diacetyl, and pinesap... along with a quirky cheese and feet character. Crisp and sweet/tart in the mouth with riesling, tinny, and ashtray flavors; the taste swells to a deep bitter afterglow that is both muddy and minty. Very low carbonation. A watery, astringent mouthfeel scours the teeth and gums, as relentless as paint thinner. Except for the acrid bitterness that is unbefitting of both the weak palate and overall lack of flavor, there isn’t a whole lot of anything.
satan165 (164), River Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 28, 2008 the term ’floral’ sometimes gets thrown around on any beer that smells of hops. but as far as im concerned, there is a specific hop aroma character that defines that adjective -- and this is it! huge lacing as well. this has the real kind of freshness that you see in two hearted and real world class IPAs, i think this is actually underrated. sebletitje (579), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 tap @ OTH
