Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

Aroma is all grapefruit. Flavor is a slightly sour initial taste, morphing into a hoppy one. Pours yellow orange with minimal head. The tartness in this DIPA is distracting - shouldn’t be there.

22 oz bomber thanks to Jeffy. Pours an orangey gold with a small bright white foamy head. Aroma on this one is caramel and pineapple, see not all beers need to be super complex. Medium bodied with average carbonation that finishes with a good amount of bitterness. Flavor has lots of alcohol shinning through with some bitter citrus notes and slight toffee. This one needs some more malts to balance out all the pumped up citrus hops. Meh at best for this one.

Yellow orange pour with piney citrus hop aroma, some malt. Earthy grapefruit taste, caramel with some spice on a resiny bitter finish. Medium on the palate (barely not too thin) with very good carbonation. This is a nice extension of the regular mojo.

Pretty clear orange color with a nice inital sticky head so I get a lot of lacing. Aroma is pine needles and hops but it’s rather subtle especially considering the abv. I taste the hops at first with some lemons and oranges but it quickly turns to a lot of malt and honey and finishes somewhat clean for the style. Good beer but surprisingly I may prefer their regular Mojo IPA.

I can’t believe how long this has been on the shelf and I haven’t gotten around to it! Copper color with a thin head. Big pine and sweet orange aroma. Plenty more pine flavor. Strong caramel malt base. Dry and bitter finish. Hides the 10% well.

Thick and creamy off-white head and a coppery orange body. Sweet, hoppy, and fruity aroma. Hoppy taste at the very front of the beer. It is bitter, but rather smooth for a double. Definitely fruity; citrusy I think. Kind of thick bodied. Really drinkable for the style. Not overkill on the hops.

Bomber. Poured clear, lighter sunset golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up a lovely blend of warm darker maltage upfront (grapefruit, English toffee, and pineapple primarily) with muted but still-present hoppage.. mostly citrus fruits and pine.. some alcohol notes dissociated themselves from the flow, but that could be due to age.. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. The flavor had grapefruit and pale malt sweetness supporting pine and pineapple bitterness.. I felt all of the 10% on the back-end and through the finish, but it was still tasty. Heavier-bodied with low-ish carbonation on the palate.. spicy and warm on the back with hot alcohol filling the nostrils. This was solid, and I will update with a fresher bottle soon. ** IGNORE CERTAIN COMMENTS ABOVE RE: AGE.. NOTICED THE BOTTLE IS DATED 1/17/09.
