Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

Pours a clear orange color with a thin off white head. Nice overpowering hoppy aroma when you open the bottle. The malt does a pretty good job of balancing the grapefruit and pine hops. For a 10% beer I thought the alcohol was well hidden. Not my favorite double IPA by any means, but still a solid beer.

My bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & garthicus -- courtesy of gunhaver. Pours a slightly hazy orange with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of perfumy hops, caramel malt, sweet fruit and alcohol. Flavour of resin and citric hops backed by caramel malt along with some spices and alcohol -- in fact the alcohol could be a bit more hidden in my opinion. Medium bodied, acidic mouthfeel. Pretty good -- I didn’t love it but it’s a fine DIPA.

Bottle: fantastic IIPA- pours a brilliant gold-orange a bit hazy though. head is nothing to brag about but leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is to die for, sweet malt fades to a mix or orange and mainly grapefruit hops. The taste is the best part lots of sweet caramel malt mixed with a little carbonation tickle. The hops follow the malt but not too quickly as most IIPA’s do. The citrus and floral hops just keep tantalizing the mouth for a good 10-15 seconds. My favorite IIPA yet.

Bottle shared with Garthicus, Hogtown Harry, and Blankboy, courtesy of Blankboy. Light orange, small white head. Boozey nose, lots of perfumey hops. Taste follows, boozey, perfumey, nice soft yet strong hops. Medium bodied, lots of carbonation. Nothing really stood out, but I enjoyed it.

1 pint 6oz bottle - Blankboys bottle, shared with Harry, Paul and Tupalev. Golden colour, lovely yellow creamy head, you could almost write your name in the head. Aroma: Mmm, old familiar! Slight candyfloss, grapefruit, lemon and honey. Flavour; Big flavour! Bitter, Hoppy, alcohol, fresh tasting, tongue twisting, floral. Lovely! nice! Thanks Blankboy!!!!

The beer pours tiger’s-eye orange, fairly clear, and the healthy ivory head spawns cobwebby lace. Very, very faint coppery and cantaloupe scents at first; halfway through the glass a suggestion of tangerine emerges. Seriously, there is almost zero aroma of any kind. The beer redeems itself, however, upon passing the lips with exaggerated fruitiness- the signature Boulder Beer sweet/tart apple and white grape- a decent dose of herbal/resiny hops, the zing of lemon pith and quinine, and a malt foundation of dough and pretzel crust. Grapefruit? Where?? A spicy gingerbread finish transitions smoothly into a clean afterburn- ethanol sting plus timid but perstistent leafy bitterness- that compensates for the total lack of carbonation. Juicy mouthfeel. Overall this is a pretty enjoyable beer, and aside from the double-digit abv, not a bad IPA... but it falls far short of DIPA status in most respects.

Pours a orangeish-amber color with white head. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit amd caramel malt. Great citrus grapefruit flavor with a generous malt backing. Body is rather "thick" as well. Great bitter finish. Not Bad! Thanks Brewblackhole!

Pours a crystal clear orange-amber body. A large, spongy, cream colored head settles slowly, leaving thick, clumpy, cobweb lacing on the glass. The nose is both massively malty and hoppy, with a huge, buttery toffee base and striking orange and grapefruit hops. Flavors include more of the same, with the two contrasting elements dueling one another for top billing. Toffee and buttered toast make a strong showing, only to be countered by sharp, bitter grapefruit and dry, grassy hops. A thick, substantial body gets a bit syrupy, leading to a heavy feeling in the stomach. Bitter grapefruit lingers on the tongue for ages. I’m a big fan of Amarillo hops, so this brew sits well with me, but I honestly think I’d give the slight edge to the regular Mojo for its supreme drinkability. Still, this is a very, very nice brew.
