TeamTrappist (367), jericho, New York, USA Apr 19, 2008 Draft. Poured a dark gold. Nice big hop nose. Very smooth and dry finish. Not a totally over powering beer, but Pretty tasty. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Thanks to blankboy for this one!. Slightly hazy copper-gold with a large lasting foamy beige head. Solid juicy peach-pineapple-pine light roast sweet malt aroma, slightly leafy and dry. Again the peach-mango fruity acidic malt up front, then a hammer of dry, pungent citrus zest/resin hops kicks and takes ye down the river for a long spell - nice smooth bitter ride it is, too. Thick, juicy, acidic mouthfeel with a long resin / citrus pith linger - just a solid drinkin’ DIPA and I sure wish I had me more. Appearance: Good lace , amber , slight haze noted. Nose : Strong , frontal hop aroma , flowery , rosy like created neat refreshing character. Hint of vanilla found floating by.8- Flavor/Palate : Medium-full bodied , oily with soft yet potent hop character. Alcohol not an issue, felt lighter than numbers would suggest. Quiet neat hop dominated brew.
pepsican (884), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA Apr 12, 2008 Pours gold with a thin bright white head. Aroma is strong grapefruit hops. Flavor is a nice blast of hops with caramel and citrus in the backdrop. A hint of alcohol rounds it out. Finishes bitter with a slick mouthfeel. Dough77 (771), Aurora, Illinois, USA Apr 11, 2008 A bit heavy on the alcoholic kick but not horrible handling it. Aroma is weak, but hop flavor makes up for it. Doesnt look like much of a winner but is descent. Definitly drinkable. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Apr 10, 2008 Pours somewhat clear medium amber, forming medium foamy head from 22 oz bottle. Aroma of grapefruit, resins, and flowers. Flavour is of caramels, a bit of grapefruit, pine resin and hop peppers. Not a bad beer, but doesn’t really strike me as an double IPA. A decent beer, more of an IPA though. HomeBrewHawk (266), De Soto, Kansas, USA Apr 9, 2008 22oz. bomber served in a shaker pint. Poured a clear gold with a finger of off white head. Plenty of carbonation. Big citrus/pine hop aroma. In your face hop bitterness typical of the style. Nice mouthfeel, there’s malt in there somewhere, but it is not very apparent. Mouth puckering, dry hop finish. Decent DIPA. At $2.99 for a bomber, it’s a bargain. Pretty drinkable for the ABV. greenleaf (90), Florida, USA Apr 7, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours nice copper-gold color with a decent white head. The nose is citrus and floral. The taste is very rounded and almost sweet. This is contradictory to many of the other Double IPA’s I have had. This beer has a very light body for the gravity of this beer. While Im not sure that this is true to style. This is by far the best double IPA I have had.
