Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Copper orange with slight haze and flat head with lace. Grapefruit pine grapefruit grapefruit aroma. Mild fruity overripe apricot sweetness with grapefruity citrus bitterness and bitter medium dry finish. Medium-full body and medium carbo. Slight carbo bite. Alcohol well-hidden. Pretty nice. What you’d expect.

Pours orange with a medium off-white foamy head. Lots of citrus and hops in the aroma with something funky coming from the malt. The alcohol is pretty nasty in this, especially on the finish where its way bitter too. Lots of melon-like fruit and some citrus juiciness. A little bit dry in the finish...with some spices. Just not a lot of balance. I don’t like brewers who think an IIPA is just "stuff as much of each ingredient in as possible", the overall taste of the beer should be considered too... duh

A decent dipa. Nice spicy aroma. But a little lacking on the finish. Hides the alcohol okay. Not bad, but not the best dipa I have had.

Nice story on the label. Appears bubbly viscous and gooey. Dull pine aroma. Terrible raggon medicine. Bitter nasty kah kah. Crude rude and mean. Above average double dose of hops. Burping pine cones. Green grapefruit rinds for a long lingering finish. Good example of the style. Just plain yukky.

On tap at the Spring Lounge, NYC. Sweet fruity hop aroma. Slightly clouded orange in appearance with a thin head. Lace clings throughout the glass. Sweet hops again in the flavour with hints of orange zest. Tangy finish. Nice IPA.

Tap at Spring Lounge. Pours a deep hazy golden amber colour. Aroma is very fresh and hoppy with lots of orange peel, grapefruit and a rich resiny hoppiness. Quite fruity and sweet with a nice hoppiness. Nice IIPA. Light juicy and spicy with some lingering muskiness and citrus character.

Pours a crystal clear light orange with a pretty, fluffy, off-white head that laces well. The nose is a bright citrus with a light caramel backing. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with a solid, bitter, finish & a touch of alcohol warmth. Grapefruit & blood fruit over a sweet, caramel, malty body. It finishes with a nice balance between bitter, resinous hops & sugary malt notes. This is a very drinkable IIPA,, and at less than $4 a bomber, it’s a very economical hops delivery vehicle.

I had this one on draught at Brouwers and in a bottle that had been sitting in my fridge for a year. Both had similar characteristics, but the one in my fridge had dulled a bit. The rating leans more towards the fresh draught version. To sum it up, this one pours an orange gold with a head that dissipates to almost nothing even after a violent pour. The aroma is almost exclusively citrus, orange, grapefruit hops. Pretty decent strong hop aroma. The flavor is more citrus orange rinds, grapefruit rinds, with some sweet malty character that rounds it out. Alcohol makes it’s presence known, as does a lingering citrus rind character. It was a a lot better fresh, but not bad nonetheless. I will probably purchase a fresh bottle and give it a try again.
