Commercial Description:
Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

I thought this was a barleywine. Very well hopped with floral and bitter hops in the aroma. Some sugar in the flavor, and medium bitter hops. Almost no carbonation.

Bottle. Best Boulder beer I’ve had, but that isn’t saying much. Clean, crisp flavor and aroma. Not the huge hop presence you’d expect in a IIPA. Okay.

Bottle Pours a hazy golden oprange wth a small off white quicj\kly dissipating head. Lots of citrusy grapefruit hop aroma nd some sweet carmely slightly wet cardboard malts on the nose as well. Flavor is not exactly a sensory explosion. a bit sweet, fairly bitter and a bit underwelming. The lingering bitterness in the trailer made up for some of it. More late hops would do this wonders I think Under carbonated as well. .Possibly an old bottle here. I haven’t had a 10% IPA this quafable though in a long time.

Slightly hazy amber with a minimal head. Sweet peach/pineapple/citrus aroma of caramel malt infused with hops. Some soapy pine notes as well. Flavor of lightly sweet caramel malt offset by mostly resiny hops throughout. Finish and aftertaste dominated by grapefruit, pine and resin hops. The malt character and mouthfeel here both seem a bit thin, but even so the hops, while ample, do not throw the balance completely out of whack.

Pours cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is some grapefruit, orange, herbal hops, and a chewy malt. Alcohol was noticable in the malt. The hops were sweet at first and then switch over to a herbal dry bitter hop. Big malty body with a dry hoppy finish.

Tried both a bomber and on tap at BrewKettle. Bright golden yellow, spectacular sheets of lacing. Pineapple grapefruit citrus aroma, a little bit of sweet too. Palate is full and smooth, carbonation in bottled version is soft. Taste is very bright - lot’s of tropical hoppiness and a thinner sweetness running around in the background - I really liked the balance of flavors in this.

A wonderful fresh aroma. Clean flavor, but rather thin on the palate. I did not notice the alcohol, which is good - but it didn’t seem intense enough for a double ipa.
