Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 14, 2007 It’s not quite the hop bomb that I was expecting but is still a delicious drink. The body’s a golden amber and it sports a modest head that engages in some intricate lacing. The aroma is strong with grapefruit and pine needles backed by a warm toffee and caramel. The flavor’s more balanced than I’d hoped for and has an increased citric fruitiness, but near the finish manages to tip more towards the hoppy bitterness. All in all, pretty decent.
dexter954 (5), Plantation, Florida, USA does not count May 9, 2007 opening a bottle unleashes a great smell...a nice mixture of flavor...bountiful amout of malt and hops...but nothing overwheming... iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA May 7, 2007 22oz bomber, no date. Pours a clear honey golden with a 1/2 finger yellowish white head, fading to a film after a minute. Aroma of some pine, floral, and herbal hops, light caramel and some biscuity malts. Flavor added some spicy alcohol, though I wouldn’t guess that it was 10%. There is also a bit more fruitness to go with the pine, and there is the nice malt backbone (caramel and pale malt) and a semidry finish. Moderate carbonation and a medium body. I don’t think this was the freshest bottle in the world, but I guess I’ll never know for sure. As it is, it was a decent IIPA--nothing bad, but nothing that great, either. oakbluff (298), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada May 6, 2007 Clear golden, little head. Nose is fruit and sweet malt. Taste- quite cloying, the amarillo hops are a favourite of mine but they are subdued due to the heavy malt bill. I think this is a beer best consumed when immediatley fresh- this bottle must be on the downturn wich is too bad. Also had a strange aftertaste that I could place- whatever it was it wasn’t tasty. I had very high hopes for this beer and I enjoyed the regular Mojo. I love DIPA’s, but I think I would take a normal Mojo over this. Its an average double in my opinion. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA May 5, 2007 Bottle: Dull golden, fairly clear, moderate white foamy head, good lacing, little carbonation.   Citrus peel infused alcohol and
slight perfume on the nose.   One the tongue you will find a moderate malt base, decent but not as full as I would prefer.
Moderate hop bitterness, mild sweetness.   Tiz citrusy, with a very little alcohol burn.   Thought based on the nose it would be
more apparent.   Clean, but finishes light.   Soft citrus peel lingers.   Tiz a good beer, but overall a bit lighter than
expected.   Body and mouthfeel are only moderate.   As it warms a bit of the alcohol becomes more noticeable.   Would be
interesting to see how this is on draught.
CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 5, 2007 Bottle sampled on 3/8/07: Pours a transparent orange bronze with a nicely-lacing wispy white head. Fresh, piny grapefruity hoppy aroma has some lightly sweet toasty pale maltiness. Body starts with a nice mild sweetness and a very flavorful fresh grapefruity hoppy balance. Smooth, slightly warming finish. A nice IIPA. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA May 2, 2007 22 oz bottle pours a hazy gold with a thin white head. Aroma of piney citrusy hops. Loads of grapefruitty citrus in this one. Very hoppy and easy to drink. I hope they make this a regular offering. gottalottaibu (242), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 2, 2007 pours gold/yellow with a nice frothy head leaving some nice lacing. hoppy aroma of citrus and flowers. citrus comes through at first dissolving into some nice dry bitterness. expected a bit more bite for a double ipa but was happy with how smooth this was. Alcohol was very well hidden making this 10%’er easy to get lost in. remarkably gentle with a wonderful aroma and drinkability for a double.
