To sweet for an IPA. Actually the grape taste reminded me too much of southern comfort........of which I am not a fan

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2014 Pours dark copper with 1 and 1/2 inch off-white head. Loads of lacing. Aroma is mostly yeast. Little bit of hops and malt. Not a typical IIPA aroma. Flavor is also very yeasty but the resiny hop flavor is also well pronounced. Complex flavor with dark fruit, spices, and caramel, Heavy body which is a big plus for this beer. Chewy mouthfeel. Boozy on the finish. Astringency in the aftertaste. Very good beer, however, I think it would be better suited in the american strong ale category due to the lack of hop aroma and bitterness associated with IIPAs. Great beer, just mis-categorized.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear copper pour with a 2 finger creamy beige ehad that has great retention. Aroma is caramel, light cereal, bread, citrus, sloppy booze and berry and tree fruit esters. Flavor is burnt orange and sweet citrus salad up front, sweet grass and hot, boozy vodka, carrots and cabbage, weird mineral notes, heavy doughy, raw yeast and a little hot, oily clove spice to the finish. Medium body, oily to slightly syrupy feel throughout and too heavily carbonated. Weird, overly hot and kinda unpleasant. It’s fruity and a little candy-like, but not very pleasant.

Not a very good impression straight off the bat. Color is fine, its a nice peachy gold, slightly hazy. Light froth, lace. Aroma is not great, some fruit with stale yeast, planty medicinal. A little off. A little yeasty, like a hefe. bready/bannany even. Same in taste has an old yeasty taste behind an ok imperial ipa. Has some alcohol/booze on the end.Grassy piney bitter. This is a reason I don’t like double ipas this abv too often, when they are like this. Very generic double ipa. ON top of old tastes. Yeah, this kinda sucks for a double, not a great experience. I had this same experience with some ot their others. Enjoy by date is 5 months away today, tastes old as shit now.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Pours clear, lighter medium orange. Large creamy white head, lasting through finish. Aroma was surprisingly minimal, creamy citrusy. Lighter full body. Grapefruit meat. Orange. Malt to balance, caramel. Soft and smooth. Alcohol hidden. Moderate bitterness. Enough sweetness. Not as flavorful and bold as I expected really. Doesn’t quite come together for me.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very clear. Smooth mouth feel. Bitter hit of hops as it bubbles in your mouth. Strong bitter after taste. Relatively mild and smooth, but the bitter after taste means one and done on this guy.

If you liked the Mojo IPA, you'll like Mojo Risin' about the same. The same is true if you disliked either of the Mojos.
Unfortunately, I fell into the later category of people who truly disliked this beer.
First and foremost, it's a barley wine, not a DIPA. Perhaps from a brewing perspective, the folks at Boulder would disagree, but from a flavor profile on the consumer's tastes, it's the farthest departure from what I know to be a DIPA.
Also, the finish tastes more like vinegar than beer.
Probably not going to revisit any more offerings from this brewery.

Mostly transparent light amber with slight white head. Medium mouthfeel with big sweet honey malt backbone. Floral hints. Subdued citrus.
