dm9831 (572), Monee, Illinois, USA Apr 29, 2008 pours hazy golden, slight off-white head, respectable lacing. mild aroma of grapefruit. flavor is caramel and grapefruit, not too complex. more creaminess than bitterness in the finish. if this has 10% abv, it is well-hidden. outside of getting loopy, i didn’t taste the alcohol.
Beer_Hawk (695), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Aug 19, 2008 Sampled at the 2008 Music City Brewers Fest. Orange with a creamy off-white head that left good lacing. Nice floral and grapefruit aroma from this one. Monster hop flavors of grapefruit and pine with an enjoyable caramel malt backing. Medium to full body with moderate bitterness throughout. Very nice DIPA! Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 13, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong grassy notes of hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of grass and hops as well as lighter notes of grapefruit and an alcohol note showing up very late and which also burns lightly in the throat. oteyj (322), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Aug 11, 2008 Rating #300. Pours amber with one finger white frothy lasting head. Lacing is elegant. Aroma is quite grassy, floral, and loaded with grapefruit. Flavor is powerful and in your face, but suprisingly managable. Lots of floral and grassy hops with a bit of a sweeter malty aspect. Palate is a bit thin, but quite smooth and drinkable. Coating, sticky, and resinous. A nice example of an extreme style. Narnad (73), Dundee, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2008 Poured from the bottle golden orange in appearance with a small head that leaves great lacing on the glass. Aroma is strong of citrus and a slight floral aroma hidden in there as well. Flavor has a faint sweet malty start moving into the bitter of the bittering hops and ends with a great grapefruit/citrus acidic flavor. Beer has a great body too it, allowing the malt, alcohol, and high hop flavors to really meld together and make a great IPA. Surprisingly smooth even with the 10% alcohol. Carbonation was perfect for this beer and really allowed the heaviness of this brew to show through. Looking forward to picking up a few more bottles next time I am in town. mgermani (591), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Aug 10, 2008 Pours a clear gold with a lasting ring of foam. Wonderful sweet malt aroma, fruity with light notes of alcohol. Very malty and sweet tasting (fruity - pear?), present alcohol and a nice bitter finish. Slightly undercarbed, but a nice thick body for an IPA. Very sweet and tasty - many thanks to Ughsmash for the trade!
