Mostly clear golden colored body with a small white head, moderate amount of lacing. Sticky honey, herbs and cheese-like hop notes in the nose, some grapefruit perhaps but it’s wrapped up in the honey hop scent. Do I like it? Sure, but I do notice when warmed and swirled that it releases some grainy malt extract syrup aromas. Light bite up front, then a rather large explosion of fizziness over the middle, with some pretty banal honey malt and amarillo hop notes. Palate is a bit too assertive, especially in back, where is becomes more coarse and rough when swallowed. Overall, though, a decent beer to drink, but I can easily get a half dozen double IPAs I’d rather drink. Cornfield (4981), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2007 It’s not quite the hop bomb that I was expecting but is still a delicious drink. The body’s a golden amber and it sports a modest head that engages in some intricate lacing. The aroma is strong with grapefruit and pine needles backed by a warm toffee and caramel. The flavor’s more balanced than I’d hoped for and has an increased citric fruitiness, but near the finish manages to tip more towards the hoppy bitterness. All in all, pretty decent. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 4, 2008 Clear golden color with a modest light beige head. Sweet aromas, with grapefruit, pale malt, light caramel, dough and some pine bark when swirled in the glass. Odd that it smelled much better prior to the swirl. Heavy, somewhat rough flavors. Caramel, grapefruit, pine bark, some floral hops as well float about. Not much that works together. Finish has a sweet grapefruit pith component. Linger is long and not all that pleasant. Some wood and pine sap with a long generic bitterness that sets in the back of the throat and begs to be scrapped out. Far too rough in areas. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Bottle: Clear bronze color, light white head and nice lacing. The nose is fairly hoppy, some pine and grapefruit along with a light spicy maltiness. I don’t know if it’s the citrus lotion I’m wearing, but the smell is super light on this. The flavor is chewy, some toffee and buttery malt notes with a balanced hop flavor. Woody, a bit sweet. Eh. Tmoney99 (4807), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Bottle at Dilly Deli. Poured clear amber color with a moderate white frothy head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet small alcohol bite finish of moderate duration. This is a solid beer. ChristianScheffel (4689), Odense, Denmark

Grapefruit and grass in the aroma, with brady malt and some alcohol. Sweetish malty flavour with lots of hop flavour, heavy alcohol and a very bitter finish. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 6, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy jack-o-lantern orangy with 1-finger or so off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, hops, tangerine, grapefruit. Tastes very hoppy and tropical fruity, with a solid caramel malt base. I never would have guessed that this one was 10% ABV. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 18, 2007 Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Very simple and straightforward. Decent sweet/bitter balance and pretty nicely hidden alcohol (wouldn’t have guessed 10%) are probably its best traits. The name is amusing in its irony, since the combination of high alcohol and hops is much more likely to make a man’s unit as useless as overcooked spaghetti. It might make a woman’s mojo rise, though.
