| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2007 The beer pours from the 22 ounce brown bottle a nice gold color with a modest bright white creamy head that dissipates slowly, leaving an encircling cover of lace to hide the glass. Nose has a big hop presence, sweet malt, a nice portent of things to come. Start is nicely malted, hop bitter and the top light to moderate in feel. Finish is sternly acidic, somewhat sweet, the hops biting in their spiciness, quite dry and lingering aftertaste, another nice beer for hop lovers. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 12, 2007 Leaves the bottle a slightly hazy deep golden color. Produces an attractive fluffy and durable off white head with great retention throughout the glass. Minimal lacing noted. Aroma is much dominated by the telltale Amarillo hop notes of fresh tangerine, grapefruit, orange peel and a hint of pine. A superb hop variety for west coast IPA’s
IMHO. Unfortunatel only a minimal amount of maltiness contributes to the aroma profile. Palate is smooth and velvety but seems slightly thin soon after the swallow. Taste shows off a crisp and firm hoppy bitterness from the start but not well balanced with the malts. Some caramel candy and malt cereal sweetness attempts to sneak through, but barely perceptible. Finish is super long and pleasantly bitter. The 10% alcohol is very well hidden making this an easy drinking IIPA. Indra (2041), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 21, 2007 22oz. bottle. Suitably fresh, juicy hop aroma, full of citrus and resins, notes of lemon and grapefruit combined with a less apparent addition of pale, honeyish malt sweetness and a certain peppery spice character. Light-medium golden amber color, clear, with a slight, creamy head and sparse lacing. Flavor is primarily a showcase for the Amarillo hops, which comprise most of the profile, contributing an impressive amount of bitterness and lemony, citric hop flavor, but also featuring a lightly sugary malt backbone and perhaps a touch of doughy yeast. Smooth and oily
on the palate with a full body and lengthy finish, the hops lingering long and potent. Well-hidden alcohol. I found myself enjoying this, it’s sort of a dedication to a particular hop strain. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2007 Tried both a bomber and on tap at BrewKettle. Bright golden yellow, spectacular sheets of lacing. Pineapple grapefruit citrus aroma, a little bit of sweet too. Palate is full and smooth, carbonation in bottled version is soft. Taste is very bright - lot’s of tropical hoppiness and a thinner sweetness running around in the background - I really liked the balance of flavors in this. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 24, 2007 bottle-thanks to vyvvy for giving me this one. Ya know, i ended up liking this beer even though it had a few flaws that i thought were pretty bad. However, I think i over-rated it due to its ease of drinkability. pours bright orange with a fluffy white head. nose of tangerines all over the place-huge orange/tangerine bomb here for shure. a faint note of tropical fruit. flavors are citrus all around-not much else, just lots of juicy orange and lemon notes. really not complex in the slightest. 10%? WHERE? its nowhere to be seen. This thing drinks so easy, which makes me want to have it again. some light metallic notes on the finish which detract from the overall enjoyment here. still, a decent IIPA. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Medium copper pour with a sturdy pillowy white head that sticks around quite a while. Fresh, fragrant aroma with some spearmint hints, flowers, and pine resin. Juicy flavor with a front forward assault of grapefruty bitterness, sticky sweet maple syrup notes, some pomegranates, and a touch of mint in the back end. Reminds me of a an ambrosia fruit salad. Good, thick sticky mouthfeel. Slightly one-dimensional - but not unappealing. Does not leave you puckered out like some hop-bombs do. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2007 Shiny, clear gold body with gentle carbonation and a sudsy white head. Aroma has strong mango notes plus orange and honeydew with a light pale malt backing. Substantial bitterness, which is coarse and assertive and a relatively dry sensation in the finish despite the fruity hop character. Drying, alcoholic mouthfeel. Reminds me of Hop Wallop, at least in terms of balance. A good DIPA, but late on the bandwagon to make a lasting personal impression.
