Pours with abig piney/resiny hop nose, with afternotes of sweat, and just a hint of grapefruit. The flavor starts off smooth and soft with a light juicy malt, hop flavors lightly spicy and musky but subdued, but then a strong finishing bitterness. The malts seemed light at first and became noticeably watery as the beer warmed, equalling a hop juice. Needs heft. Golden color with a big white head and long lacing. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Curiously, not much darker than Mojo, even with all the extra malts and what not. Body didn’t seem much heavier, either -- albeit a bit more sticky. Grapefruit was definitely more resinous, though. Alcohol was hidden fairly well, although it did have a little nip that lingered. Somewhat cottony in the throat. Noticeable sweetness at its core; an obvious amped version of Mojo. Overall, I thought it was pretty good, but it seemed to lack complexity and depth. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 6, 2007 22oz bottle shared with a friend. Pours a clear bright gold with a small white fluff, much like the Hoppe I tried two days earlier. The amarillo hops come through in the nose with lots of grassiness and maybe a touch of citrus. The flavor is pleasant grass, citrus, and bitterness. A clean beer with plenty of hops and just enough malt presence to keep it from being a hop bomb. Alcohol is well hidden. Easy to drink. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Bomber. Citrus, tangerine and grapefruit, aroma. Some hop, mostly fruity. Hazy orange with a thin, large bubble head. Bottle opening was flimsy; head is a little flat. May be some cap seal issues. Strong, hoppy flavor. Has the elements you like to see in a double IPA, but somehow it doesn’t come together all that well. The whole is less than the sum of it’s parts. Nevertheless, a 35 pctl beer in the double IPA style is still a very good beer, and this is no exception. Rating may be unfairly affected by poor bottle cap seal. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong grassy notes of hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of grass and hops as well as lighter notes of grapefruit and an alcohol note showing up very late and which also burns lightly in the throat. kp (8600), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

hazy yellow, frothy white head, sweet tangerine and pine aroma, lots of sweet citrus flavor, yet another double IPA but just as yummy as all of the others, light bitter finish complements rather than distracts,

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2007 22oz bottle: Pours a cloudy light orange/yellow color with medium sized off white head. Aroma is full of sharp, bright citrusy hops, bit of grapefruit and apricot. Flavor is rather fruity, with grapefruit, peach, pear, slightly spicey, with fair amount of citrusy herbal hops and caramel. Finish is balanced but with a firm bitterness. A nice brew overall, a bit too much going on, too estery, etc., but still good.
