CamdenD (570), Madrid, Spain Jul 4, 2008 Sticky IIPA. Standard, yet very nice-looking, copperish gold color and piny, not too citrusy, nose. This has the by-the-books long-lastingness of an IIPA yet it doesn’t really say much during its long set. Lots of promise, but little delivery. Most people here have this right, an empty yet big IIPA. Maybe I missed the boat, all should try, especially given what I think to be an excellent IPA in the normal Mojo.
sirpsycho (205), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle at the Headkeeper (Greensburg). Pours a hazy yellow, soapy white head. Aroma is citrus and pine. Flavor is more of the same, maybe a touch of grass in the background. Not much in the bitterness department. hombrepalo (545), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 26, 2008 Bomber (on Sale $3.99). Best bang for its buck! Poured a dark orange cloud, nice fluffy head and some lacing. Smell is of lots of citrus, with oranges lemons and a bit of grapefruit, with just a touch of pine trees as well. There’s a some hints of bread dough malts in the background, along with a little bit of a sugary aroma. There’s absolutely no hint of the 10.5% ABV at all. Taste; this is a bit more piney upfront than it was in the aroma, with the citrus being secondary, with oranges and lemons. Nice brew. jimmack34 (158), Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 Maybe an IPA can be defined by the amount of hops, even if it citrusy and not as piney. If you define a IPA by the piney bitterness, this wont cut it, but if you define IPA by the hops, then the citrusy flavor pounded in this bottle is a good inturpritation. Excellent on the nose, with grapefruit and lemon. There are plenty of grass and pine hints there, too, just not as prominate. Tastes sweet and citric, some piney hints, followed by some sweet malts, grains of baking bread, and finishes sweet and smooth and lasting aftertase. Very good beer. Beardface (257), Eugene, Oregon, USA Nov 1, 2008 Not really hoppy enough to qualify as an IIPA if you ask me, but a relatively decent beer with a solid citrus taste. LooseCannon (686), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Oct 23, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours cloudy amber in color with full foamy white head. Aroma sweet and citrus hops Taste sweet, grapefruit and hops with bitter finish.
