doubelknv3 (559), Illinois, USA Sep 4, 2009 Black with creamy tan head. Mild roast and coffee aroma notes. Roast, coffee, chocolate, and mild sour flavours. Watery for the style with medium bitter finish. nbutler11 (731), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 3, 2009 Bottle from Total Wine in Tempe. Pours a roasted coffee color with a creamy beige head that leaves a fair amount of lacing -- especially for an oak-aged beer. Smells predominantly of toasted malts, caramel, milk cocoa, and dark fruits. Tastes much the same with added note of coffee grounds, lactose, oatmeal, and black licorice. Nice, but a bit thin on the palate. Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 31, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with tan head and good lacing. Aroma is slight cocoa and vanilla with notes of coffee. Flavor is smooth dark roasted malts with coffee undertones. Creamy mouthfeel with slight bitter aftertaste with notes of espresso and cocoa. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Aug 7, 2009 All in all a very solid stout.....but to bill yourself as an oak aged imperial oatmeal stout, well you better bring something grand to the table and this just doesn’t live up to what I was anticipating. Amber~brown body, dark like a porter but not thick as a stout. Nice 3/8" brown head that sticks around followed by some splotchy lacing. Roasted malty aroma with a nice milkiness followed by a some nuts and chocolate. Medium bodied, light for a stout though. Sweet with a balancing bitter aftertaste. It’s approachable and easily consumed just nothing complicated. Fairly typical stout flavor with plenty of burnt and roasted malts mixed with some nuts, coffee and chocolate. Nothing more and nothing less. Although I was hoping for much more with this brew. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2009 Had from a bomber into a pint glass. Not bad, but I was really expecting more out of this bad boy from a brewer that I trust relatively well. hopdoge (26), Colorado, USA Jul 31, 2009 (bomber) Pours a cloudy black color. Sweet malt aroma with hints of cocoa. Alcoholic and slightly dry texture, average carbonation, long duration, moderately sweet finish. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 30, 2009 22 oz. bomber for $7.50 at Total Beverage. The color is black but not completely black with a thin-as-paper white head. The first smells are oatmeal, oaky, stouty goodness. Whoa, the taste is crazy..subtle woody vanilla flavors but I am disappointed by the thin mouthfeel. Interesting beer, good for a one-time purchase but its a little expensive, if it was a little thicker it would be perfect.

Aroma is of cocoa nibs, light roasted malt and mild coffee. Taste is much the same with the cocoa being in the forefront and a bitter hop taste in the finish. Kinda wonky to me, but not bad. Just a one buy for me.
