Bottle provided by IMtheOptimator. Pours dark brown with a tan dissipating head. Tastes of chocolate with some nice hints of bitterness. Some earthy qualities also present. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Bomber bottle and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Deep brown with reddish highlights topped by a frothy tan head and very good lacing. The aroma has notes of resiny and grassy hops, pepper and clove, white grape and tangerine, espresso, bakers chocolate and charred black malts.

The taste is utterly disappointing, weak and thin. There are malty overtones and bitter background but the whole thing seems watered down. The bitterness is easily found but lacks the sweet and chewy malt needed for proper balance. Worse yet is the complete lack of anything resembling oats/oatmeal. The finish indeed displays a woody oak character as well as some hop spice notes.

The mouth feel is aggressive and sprite with a bone dry and ashy finish. All in all this is a failed attempt at a bitter dark beer. These guys need to get on the phone with Three Floyds to figure out how to do this kind of beer.

Bomber. Expecting a big, dark, heavy stout. Pouring the beer, I can see we’re off to a good start. Pitch black. Perfect creamy tan head, with gorgeous lacing on the glass. Definitely looks like a perfect stout. Aroma is a tad disappointing as the smells are generally muted; coffee, roasted chocolate, ripe fruits with that alcoholic tint. There’s still promise. Flavor is very sweet. Coffee, chocolate, citrus, lots of hops, some sort of hard liquor I can’t put my finger on. Light and bouncy. Rich chocolate aftertaste. There’s something missing, but I can’t deny that it tastes good. Smooth and fluffy on the palate, but a bit watery. Drinkable. Very much so.

This was a strong stout, empirically speaking. Very chocolatey. Dark as the night. A little roasty. A little thin as well.

bomber. Very dark brown/black pour....brown head dissipated quickly. Roasty nose, well somewhat roasty. Light bitterness in the flavor, some chocolate, maybe a tinge of Maxwell house...meh. Light bodied too...basically light all the way around. Not horrible by any stretch, but not worth the trip either. Probably not one I’d buy again.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, brown sugar, and earthy hops. Poured black in color with a small, rocky, brown head that diminished quickly. Clear. Not sparkling. Medium sweet, lightly bitter flavor. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, brown sugar, and coffee. Medium body. Thin, dry texture. Average carbonation. Bitter-sweet malt and chocolate finish.

This stout is very tasty. Very rich chocolate and dark malted flavors encircle the palate. The dark roasted stout pours with a nice frothy yet thick head. The strength is just right.

Dark with ruby-red highlights. Patchy head with bubbles in various sizes. Roastiness jumped out first. Palate felt a little thin. Big notes of chocolate and nuts. Lesser notes of creamed coffee and vanilla. Hops were somewhat zingy and grassy. Decent stout, but it didn’t cause even a slightly raised eyebrow.
