tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Feb 22, 2009 On tap at Lunar Brewing, pint served. Poured a cloudy, black/brown, with a light tan, foamy head that gradually diminished, but left a solid, clinging lace that lasted much longer than the head. The aroma had a bit of tanginess at first, along with roasted malt, and mellow, mocha tones. The flavor also presented a touch of tartness with the hop bitterness, along with the
malt, cask wood, a bit of molasses, and a touch of bourbon as it warmed. Medium bodied in comparison to other stouts, but decent and flavorful. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA Feb 13, 2009 Boulder Beer Obovoid Oak-aged Oatmeal Stout. 22 oz bottle courtesy of Maniac. Roasty chocolate aroma. Very dark mahogany brown with wispy tan head. Roast malt dominates flavor with some woodiness that comes through in the finish. Hefty bitterness. Excellent. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA Feb 2, 2009 22oz bottle: poured very dark brown, maybe black with a medium sized brown head. Moderate milk chocolate aroma and mild roasted malt. Chocolate and a good bit of hops in the flavor. Mild roastiness. Slightly dry but pretty good. thornecb (1737), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jan 31, 2009 Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention leaves spotted lacing. Light sour cocoa aromas. Thin with upfront oak and soured milk chocolate with a mild hop finish. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jan 29, 2009 Bomber. Pours a motor oil black with a half finger tan head and decent lacing. The nose is milk chocolate and light roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate and mild bitter coffee in the finish. No oak tones really noticeable. Medium mouth feel. Not bad, but not great. Just seems a bit “off”. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Jan 29, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Very smooth and oaky. Nothing spectacular here, but very solid and drinkable. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Jan 29, 2009 Deep brown in color with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is slightly weak, but is of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is of coffee and roasted malts. Slightly thin for a stout. Dry mouthfeel. FlssmrBrewAlum (1080), Lisle, Illinois, USA Jan 28, 2009 Poured on tap at Flossmoor Station (Flossmoor, Il) as the guest stout. Pours an extremely dark black pour, opaque, with decent brownish cocoa head in the snifter glass I’ve become very accustomed to as a former and 5 year employee of Flossmoor Station. Aromas are initially chocolatey, light dark roasty malts, with a touch of oak, and very vague bourbon notes. Initial is a little thin, but flavors come through: smoother roasted malt, chocolatey goodness, light oak, and light booziness with a touch of harshness and roast on the backend. A touch of bourbon lingers in the body with the oak. small flavors in a touch of a thin body. A little coffee? This is decent, but more on a "well made beer, but not overally special" kind of jaunt. I’d drink this again, but would not seek it out. Lacks complexity
