Commercial Description:
Oak-aged oatmeal stout as dark in color as deep space. Again Obovoid on oak adds earthy character to the roasted notes and bittersweet chocolate finish derived from the black and chocolate malts.

22oz bottle: poured very dark brown, maybe black with a medium sized brown head. Moderate milk chocolate aroma and mild roasted malt. Chocolate and a good bit of hops in the flavor. Mild roastiness. Slightly dry but pretty good.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention leaves spotted lacing. Light sour cocoa aromas. Thin with upfront oak and soured milk chocolate with a mild hop finish.

Bomber. Pours a motor oil black with a half finger tan head and decent lacing. The nose is milk chocolate and light roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate and mild bitter coffee in the finish. No oak tones really noticeable. Medium mouth feel. Not bad, but not great. Just seems a bit “off”.

Crushed with Jakebra. Very smooth and oaky. Nothing spectacular here, but very solid and drinkable.

Poured on tap at Flossmoor Station (Flossmoor, Il) as the guest stout. Pours an extremely dark black pour, opaque, with decent brownish cocoa head in the snifter glass I’ve become very accustomed to as a former and 5 year employee of Flossmoor Station. Aromas are initially chocolatey, light dark roasty malts, with a touch of oak, and very vague bourbon notes. Initial is a little thin, but flavors come through: smoother roasted malt, chocolatey goodness, light oak, and light booziness with a touch of harshness and roast on the backend. A touch of bourbon lingers in the body with the oak. small flavors in a touch of a thin body. A little coffee? This is decent, but more on a "well made beer, but not overally special" kind of jaunt. I’d drink this again, but would not seek it out. Lacks complexity

Bomber shared with barrios, jbo, and MmmcKay. Pours dark brown with chestnut highlights and ring of tan head. Aroma of rum soaked fruit and an earthy cherry note. Flavor of bitter roast chocolate and dirt. Medium thin body with medium low carbonation and a chalky finish.

Guest tap at Flossmoor. Pours black with a frothy beige head. Light carbonation. Aroma is very weak, surprisingly. Weak aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and oatmeal. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, dairy creamer, and oatmeal. Lingering taste of coffee and alcohol. Mouthfeel is creamy, bordering on watery. All the flavors are extremely muted, making for a very weak beer. overall
