22-oz bottle. Pours black with an average, dark brown head, somewhat diminishing with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (chocolate, toast), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of smoke and wood. Medium bodied, sticky texture, borders on creamy finish, lively carbonation, and a bitter and chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. A very easy beer to drink although I expected a little more dark malt aroma out of this one. Still needs some work.

Bottle from Crown Liquors. Almost a black pour with a small brown head. Aroma is nice enough. Roasted malts, chocolate, espresso, etc. Flavor is hoppier and toastier than I prefer my stouts. dont get me wrong, it is a pretty well done beer...just not my favorite type of stout. Finish is dry and a tad bitter.

Bottle… Pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. The nose is of milk chocolate with hints of cola and vanilla. Full-bodied and creamy with restrained carbonation. Medium sweet, moderately burnt and bitter; the flavor offers up chocolate and charcoal with a whisper of vanilla. Chocolaty, bittersweet finish. This beer surprised me by not falling flat on its face while following up bottles of Southern Tier Imperial Choklat and Bells Bourbon Barrel Double Cream/Expedition Stout. Underrated, I think. Bottle courtesy of mgumby10. Thanks Mike!
