COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Tried this on tap at Ernie's bar & pizza in Denver, CO. Great medal winning porter with malty coffee flavors, hints of roasted nuts and chocolate. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Denver Center City Marriott. Dark pour, usual porter stuff. Slight lactic notes among a roasted malt profile and a slight fruity sweetness that was also not really appealing. Okay. Meh.

12oz bottle -pours really dark ruby with a finger of tan head that quickly vanishes and thin lacing. Noise is roasted chocolate and coffee. Flavor adds water. Thin body, geez. Bitter due to roastedness. A light porter. That’s it.

Dark brown, amber hues, no head. Interesting aroma. Sort of a burnt woody scent. Some chocolate malts. Ugh. Taste is a let down. Very burnt, chcoolate and smoked. semi-sweet chocolate at the finish.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is nutty, chocolate, some smokiness, grass, coffee, bread. Smells all right. Taste is dry and nutty; some dark chocolate, a hint of coffee; pretty mild. Unfortunately, not real full flavored. Glad to have tried it; probably won’t be drinking it again.

Really a mostly-average porter. Cocoa and coffee are devloped but it has a weak palate.

Bottle at DIA - 04/06/12. Very dark brown approaching black with a thin tan head. Light roast malt nose allied to a little sweet chocolate. Chocolate taste, malts, dark fruit backdrop. Lightish body a little on the watery side, drinkable though.

Medium to heavy body. Thick, mostly dark chocolate flavor with some sweetness that tapers off at the end. Some coffee as well.
