Bottle from 99 Bottles in Federal Way. My wife insisted I get it because of the label. Minimal head, no lacing. Nose is pretty good, with coffee/roasted malt. Color was nearly opaque black--just a touch of deep ruby evident. The flavor was a solid coffee, chocolate, plus a light honey-caramel touch, but the body was on the light side. Previous reviewer says almost a schwarzbier, and that’s a good observation. Good thing I like schwarzbiers! Very drinkable. Good lesson for all: let others occasionally take you out of your norms, even for silly reasons like a label.

Nov 28, 2008 Dark body with small light brown head. Mallty mild coffee aroma. Mellow coffee flavor. LIght bodied with a watery texture. Pretty smooth beer.

Oct 29, 2008 One of my favorites after I started really getting into porter’s. I’ve had a few bad ones out here in CO but this one is a winner. After a few you need something else which like stouts I think is a good sign. Robust flavor yet very good mouthfeel. Not to strong but it does the trick.

Oct 29, 2008 Updated: Nov 21, 2008Draught at the taphouse at Denver Airport. Black - white head. Burned, licorice, berries, lactic, high malty, dryness, light coffee. Lovely precise...... a few days later: Draught at Boulder Beer. (Nitro). Clear dark-dark brown - brown head. Lactose, berries, roasted, licorice, dryness, weak, light chocolate... (6/3/6/3/13).

Oct 28, 2008 (Bottle). Sweet, slightly roasty aroma. Dark brown body, small head. Taste is thin, mild, a touch sweet, some fruitiness. Unimpressive finish.

Oct 23, 2008 12 ounce bottle, pours a deep brown with a short lasting creamy head. iIce coffee taste at the first sip but the taste that lingers in your mouth is the roasted malt, almost bordering on burt. Would not buy again
