Aroma was of chocolate raisin, some strawberry, mocha, and citrus. Flavor was actually quite noticeably of strawberry, some raisin, chocolate, roast coffee, slightly sweet with hints of lactose, and a slight citrus in the finish. The fruitiness was rather surprising and perhaps more apparent due to the meal, however it was very interesting and quite refreshing.

Ash y chocolate aroma with some mineral and light chalky vanilla hints. A moderate roast y body with a thin body and a subtle dry ash and light malt y chocolate tones. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown, almost black color. Pours with a thick tan colored head that doesn’t stick around long. Smells nutty and smokey with some roasted smells and a little bit of chocolate in the background. Taste followed the smell with the roasted, nutty flavor. Lots of malt and there’s definitely a smokey flavor going on here. Very drinkable. Good overall beer. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 13, 2009 This is way a porter should be in my opinion. Big and robust, no time for messing around. Something serious in this beer. Dark brownish black colour with a full frothy head. Creamy and nutty, rich roasted malts on the nose with some toasted oats as well. Taste has that little hotness from the alcohol. but its so balanced and so pleasent. Thanks Brandon for the good beer!
