Arayaga2 (739), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 22, 2008 Clear maple colored with a dimpled tan head. Aroma is almost insignificant, but what’s there is sweet with caramel. Taste is sweet and roasty, not unlike a dilute example of their porter. Sweet caramel in the taste as well, and it lingers on the palate as a sugary aftertaste with a slight vegetal remnant. IlanMan (472), Winona, Minnesota, USA Jul 19, 2008 Why does this have more hop character than the pale ale? Not sure. Either way, I got a bit more malt and hop characters in this beer. Seemed more well blended than the pale ale. Had a light butter character to it that had a bitter and slightly dry finish. Decent brew. Probably not worth another buy though. puggy211 (301), cordova, Tennessee, USA Jul 17, 2008 Clear dark amber appearance, moderate head formation. Rich malt aroma, caramel, lightly smokey. Light and sweet on the palate. Malt dominates, burnt sugar/caramel. No real hoppiness but some mild toasty notes and light enough in body to stay drinkable. BuckeyeBoy (1065), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 13, 2008 On tap at Denver Airport Pours out a amber topped with a sand tan head. Aroma of sweet amlt and pit fruit. Tast iof more of the sweet caramel malts and pit fruit. A touch of bitterness at the end. Strykzone (880), Wood River, Illinois, USA Jun 12, 2008 A nice looking amber color with a big tan foamy head. Nicely carbonated. A pleasant aroma. Fruit and sweet malt. Flavor is dark fruit, caramel malt, candy sugar with some spice. Some mild hops add a bit of tartness and some zing to the feel. A fun and enjoyable beer.
