Lactic acid, lemony, very sour-wheat character in the nose; do I detect faraway coriander? Milky, evey meaty, yeasty taste, ending on a citrussy, light sourish taste. Dull sweetness is there. Lachesis says raw egg-plant, and I tend to agree. Flat (nearly no carbonation) wheat slickness. Rather poor Weizen. Give me the Bavarians anytime - and those are far from my favourite style. Nice label, however. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 8, 2005 Updated: Sep 10, 2005(22 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with whaleman, thanks David!) The label says, "This is the only wheat beer bold enough to take a trip through the Looking Glass." But I’ve had plenty of wheat beers that are bolder than this. Not to say this isn’t a flavorful and pretty decent American wheat beer, but come on! The first sip seemed pretty uneventful, but I think it just takes a few sips for the flavor to build momentum. Mild wheat maltiness is fairly sweet, hops seems light but does add some bitterness, and citrus, banana and bubblegum flavors really start to come out and become the dominant flavors after a bit, but the finish isn’t especially long-lasting. As the beer warms, the malt takes on more of a corn and bready character. The aroma shows a fair amount of yeast, banana and bubblegum. Light-to-medium bodied, but definitely trending toward medium. Light straw color, somewhat hazy in appearance, and topped by a small white head that quickly fades away almost completely so that lacing is impossible. Not the boldest wheat beer ever, but actually it’s quite good. jsquire (2098), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Straw color in the glass with a loose collection of big bubbles on the surface. Sweet aroma of honey with citrus and dough. The initial taste is a little watery. The flavors of lemon, wheat, with faint banana/clove flavors in the background come out in the middle. This is a refreshing beer, but not very interesting. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 24, 2005 Bottle. Pours a cloudy, light yellow color with a small, fast to fade white head. A nice light lemony aroma is standing out in aroma, perhaps just the slightest hint of spice. Light bodied. Flavor is lightly wheat, lemon and lightly kilned barley malt. Faint spicey notes. Borders on watery at times, but would be a nice beer on a hot day. Thanks Matta! TheBeerGod (3147), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Thanks to matta for the bottle! Pours gold with a delicate white head. Aroma is banana, light yeast, wheat, citrus and lemon cookies. Taste is lemony with wheat notes, yeast, and sweet malts. Body is light and refreshing. Finishes with more lemony notes, sweet malts and wheat. Lighhter yeast and hops throughout. Good beer! roder60 (1020), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 19, 2005 Poured a hazy gold coloor with a small amount of quickly dissapating head. Aroma was sweet, banana, and wheaty. Flavor was light and watery, sweet and pearish. Overall, a decent thirst quencher. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 16, 2005 Hazy golden color, white head. MOstly sweet, banana, pear, some wheat, light citrus. Medium bodied. Fairly drinkable if not all that impressive. beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 10, 2005 Bottle. Pours hazy blone yellow. Love the label (overall gets points for that). Fruity sweet aroma, bananas, and maybe honey even. Wheat malty flavors, cloves and sweet bananas. My big problem with this beer was that it just about died on my palate. Nice flavors, and then nothing. Still, it’s a good beer.
