3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ceejmomeechmo (58) - Chicago, USA - JUL 19, 2005
Bottle from Sam’s... Poured a hazy golden with a small white head that faded fast. Aromas were very subtle of sweet fruits and a bit of wheaty yeast. Flavors were stronger than the nose, but still quite muted. Hints of fruit and spice are most prominent. Mouthfeel was soft and a bit watery. Overall, not the greatest.

Tap. Pours hazy, pale yellow with thin, fizzy white head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is straw malt, banana, cloves, lemon, grassy hops, and light spice. Flavor is malt dominate with supporting fruit esters and faint hops; crisp finish. Light body with low carbonation and warmth.

I didn’t know what in the heck a "sweaty Betty" was until Ana told me just now. I don’t think that’s going to help my review of the beer since her description of the term sounds pretty gross.
In appearance, this blonde wheat looks just like carbonated urine. Translated: it looks exactly like a filtered wheat beer. An airy, bubbly white head lasts a few minutes atop the pale yellow beer. The aroma is of lightly soured wheat - more sour than sweet. Eh.
Already this beer isn’t looking good... and I haven’t even taken a sip yet. Once it hits the mouth all hope is lost. The mouth feel is light, but a little syrupy. And then, once it goes down the hatch, all memory of anything being in your mouth (at least beer or a beer-like substance) fades and you’re hit square in the palate with the slightly unpleasant flavor of wheat. You can tell that this beer is unfiltered just from the flavor, as the potent effects of the wheat are quickly washed from the palate.
In all honesty, I don’t know why people drink wheat beers. I can understand, somewhat, if a girl drinks it (especially if she’s sweaty and needs to cool off). But then she’s going to have that wheat beer smell on her breath, and mix that with sweat... that’s not sounding too hot to me. Don’t want to smell her, certainly don’t want to kiss her or have to perform CPR.
There’s something sourly rotten about fermented wheat that I don’t think I’ve ever been able to get over, and I think my opinion of wheat beers just gets worse over time.

Banana/wheat in smell and flavor. Pretty light-bodied. Crisp. Decent, but not one of the best wheat beers.

Bottle. Nothing special here. Just your regular old wheat beer, but solidly made at least. Sweet citrus to banana custard scent. Hazy copper pour. Light and silky mouthfeel. Banana custard fronted taste to a hint of clove and a wheat finish.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 burg326 (1056) - Florida, USA - MAY 2, 2012
12 ounce bottle poured a cloudy golden color, aromas of clove, wheat, and citrus. Flavors are the same with some yeast thrown in. Mostly clove hits the palate, which isn’t too bad, I just was not expecting the clove to be in the main player.

I've come to expect a certain quality from wheat beer. Kind of a skunky taste. Not impressed.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy light gold with a decent fluffy white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, and citrus. Taste is citrus, wheat, yeast, and cloves. Perhaps a bit too much cloves. Light and refreshing.
