Draught at Boulder Creek Brewpub. Faint nose of earth and butterscotch. Sweet caramel flavor, some fruit, bitter finish. Earthy and spritzy. Not so impressive.

Draught at the Surfrider Cafe. Dull dark amber-brown color with a small head. Floral piney hop aroma with some caramel and bread squeaking through as well. The flavor was actually more dry and hoppy than I was expecting and had more hop character than their pale ale, with just a light crystal malt character balancing. Pretty standard cascade profile in the hops overall, and I’m not the biggest fan of that, though I can see how older drinkers might enjoy it more. Light to medium body. Not really great in its balance, but decent stuff and pleasantly lacking in sticky caramel.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Pours reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, some fresh orange, and some light hops. Flavor is the same, maybe with a bit of spruce or pine. A malt-heavy amber with some interesting flavors.

I am not a fan of this brewery but this is one of their least offensive beers. Pours a nice reddish color. Has a mild aroma of some caramel and maybe a bit of hops (could be my imagination). Flavor is bland and dry. Finishes clean.

Nice red color with an off whtie head. Found the beer to be a little flat for my taste. Almost like it was missing some hops. Not impressive or really note worthy. It just did not stand out for me.

Nice pour. Good head and decent lacing after three days in a growler. Maybe a teensie bit lighter than I'd like, but nice and clear. The flavor's very well balanced. I'm getting a much longer malt finish than hops but that's not a problem. A very nice drinking beer.
