COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our boldest dam brew is named for the boldest dam workers. Dangling from ropes 700 feet above the canyon floor, they blasted off the face of the cliff and then pried away loose rock. Our version of this classic style uses loads of two-row brewers malt, white wheat and roasted barley. Seriously hopped up with Oregon Chinook and Cascade, we throw an additional two pounds of fresh, whole cone Cascade directly into the fermenter. Are you as tough as a high scaler?

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Boulder City, NV). First stop of the trip. Pours a deep hazy orange amber hue, a decent haziness in the body still shows as assertive glowing hue. Frothy offwhite head atop remains as a mellow layer, decent lacing and stick around as a mellow filmy full layer. Aromas are bright citric hops, lemon and grapefruit meet some punchy grapefruit, pineapple and cleaner bready malts. Jabs of melon, tropical fruit, some decent gumball. An appealing nose. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a firmer citric juice front end is a bit bitter and juicy. Firmer grapefruit juice, citric and melon elements. Some decent bitterness, pithy citrus fruit and rind oils. A gentle sweetness, jabs of tropical fruit and mellow gumball hit into the middle. Cleaner malt bill is a bit cereal, bready with touches of guava, some gentle grain, straw and decent floral kick into the backend and finish. A bit bitter and citrusy, the malt bill here is ellow, manageable allowing one to put back a few of these with itís forward thinking juicy citric hop profile. While itís not a bitter screamer, it offers a lot of life in the fruity melange area. Finish is a bit bitter, crisp, with traces of citrus, tropical fruit, florals and mellow bread hanging on. This one surprised me. Tastys tuff. An alluring nose leads to a solid beer overall with some fun hops.

Nice mellow pale ale, a little on the light side, but some fruity, citrus aromas and flavors. Another great looking beer, perfect head and lacing. Citrus finish.

Hazed orange pour with creamy white head and lace. Light caramel malt aroma. Flat orange zest with a citrus hop bitter. Thin and fizzy.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy orange pour with no head. Tastes like watery orange juice. Nearly no hop bite, palate is a bit thin. Not a good effort.

Lubiere (11014) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 21, 2012
A hazed golden ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a light caramel malt with smooth floral hops. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with lots of fruity esters, a bit too sweet and light floral hops, alcohol warmth. On tap at brewpub, August 8 2012.

Wittales (701) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Appearance was hazy soft orangish pale gold with creamy white diminishing 1 finger head, no lacing. Aromas are sweet pale malt with soft orange, grapefruit, lemon cascade hops. Taste was sweet pale malt but sublte, the citrus fruits of lemon, grapefruit, orange. Palate was smooth soft CO2 with light meduim body, then average length citrusy finish. Decent pale for local brewery...Boulder Dam called it a Pale.

Strong citrus hop content. Medium amber coloring. Hop content is pretty low for an IPA but the dry hopping is apparent. Finish is not so bitter. Not a bad IPA.

Peachy, hefeweizen haze (no, didnít get my samples crossed) with a skim of halo. OJ and lemon barley squash aroma with green sweaty hints (Chinook and Cascade). Cherrystone and Disprin fizz; piney hints, papery sherbet, more orange juice. ď2lbs of fresh Cascade chucked in the fermenterĒ and Iím struggling to detect a gram of hop flavour. I loved the Boulder Dam tap and my visit was one of the highlights of my US trip, but the beers in my glass bore little resemblance to the beers described in the menu, most of which (regardless of style) tended towards a distacting, dunkelweizen-like yeastiness and orange soda character which overwhelmed any other intended flavours. No IPA, but didnít detract from the enjoyment of my visit.

A nice fruity hop aroma. The flavor has some hops but certainly isnít uber-agressive. Smooth but really nice. I thought this was a great beer.
