COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our boldest dam brew is named for the boldest dam workers. Dangling from ropes 700 feet above the canyon floor, they blasted off the face of the cliff and then pried away loose rock. Our version of this classic style uses loads of two-row brewers malt, white wheat and roasted barley. Seriously hopped up with Oregon Chinook and Cascade, we throw an additional two pounds of fresh, whole cone Cascade directly into the fermenter. Are you as tough as a high scaler?

Fairly average IPA. Nice looking amber with a small head. Aroma is lite with some sweet malt and a bit of citrus. Flavor was OK with a sweet start followed with a touch of hops. Dry but metallic aftertaste.

Strong citrus hop content. Medium amber coloring. Hop content is pretty low for an IPA but the dry hopping is apparent. Finish is not so bitter. Not a bad IPA.

Peachy, hefeweizen haze (no, didn’t get my samples crossed) with a skim of halo. OJ and lemon barley squash aroma with green sweaty hints (Chinook and Cascade). Cherrystone and Disprin fizz; piney hints, papery sherbet, more orange juice. “2lbs of fresh Cascade chucked in the fermenter” and I’m struggling to detect a gram of hop flavour. I loved the Boulder Dam tap and my visit was one of the highlights of my US trip, but the beers in my glass bore little resemblance to the beers described in the menu, most of which (regardless of style) tended towards a distacting, dunkelweizen-like yeastiness and orange soda character which overwhelmed any other intended flavours. No IPA, but didn’t detract from the enjoyment of my visit.

A nice fruity hop aroma. The flavor has some hops but certainly isn’t uber-agressive. Smooth but really nice. I thought this was a great beer.

Draught sample at the brewpub. Pours a murky amber with a thin white head. Smells of wildflowers, some resiny hints, citrussy. Tastes citrussy and resiny with a crisp finish.

Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 19, 2008
Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours a hazy amber-yellow color with a minimal off-white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Floral hops and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with moderately bitter hops flavor and notes of flowers and earthy malt. The finish is hoppy with a bitterness that lingers a bit. Slightly above average overall.

Draft in Boulder City. Not a bad IPA but still something strange about the appearance and flavour. Can not really ID it but something not right.

...not bad, a decent IPA. Hops are there at the nose and finish, decent aftertaste from the dry hopping, floral finish. One of their better beers, there, but they need practice.

Well... I love IPAs, but I didn’t really love this beer. The aroma was pleasant, noticeable hop aroma and a sweet overtone. None of their beers are filtered, so this was an oddly cloudy IPA. The flavour was mild at best. My wife usually gags when tasting an IPA but she could actually tolerate this one. Just a faint bitterness at the very end, and little malt backbone coming through. I’m sure I could drink a lot of this, but I was surprised to see that it was tagged as an IPA. All of their beer has a odd aftertaste - maybe weird yeast or something?
