COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November of 1989, John McDonald loaded his pickup and drove three blocks down the street to deliver the very first keg of Boulevard beer. Though significantly more assertive, Boulevard 21st Anniversary Fresh Hop Pale Ale is brewed in loving tribute to that original Pale Ale. English pale malt gives the beer a rich, nutty malt flavor. Munich and Caramel malts add color and body, while a blend of Cascade, Hallertau, Magnum, Styrian Golding, and Centennial hops contribute scintillating citrus aromas and complex, peppery notes.

750ml bottle. Pours a hazy, burnt orange body with a moderately thick, dense, off-white head. Big hoppy nose of citrus and light piney resin with some sweet caramel malt underneath and light toast. Hops come through big in the flavor - some citrus, white grape and woodsy flavors. Sweet malt with a touch of cracker. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation with a bitter, somewhat resinous finish. Tasty beer!

A hazy dark orange beer with a medium tan head. The aroma has strong hops pine, citrus, grass, and dishwater, but in a good way. The flavor is lemon, slightly sour, with big hops bitterness, but not overwhelming. A refreshing and tasty beer with great hops characteristics.

Hazy orange-amber with a moderate beige head. Aroma of citrus, raisins, English pale malt, caramel malt and a touch of pine. The taste is malty and fruity, mildly sweet and mildly bitter. Medium bodied, very slightly dry, and very easy drinking with just the right amount of carbonation.

Orange, clear, very good head and good carbonation. There’s some pineapple aroma followed by a decent pale ale with only almost enough pine hops flavor and bitterness. Somehow I was expecting more hops in the nose and the taste, but other than that, another decent brew from Boulevard.

Pours hazy orange with a small off-white, tannish head. Smells surprisingly hoppy, touches of citrus and pine and flowers. Taste is citrus and floral with some bitterness. Medium-bodied with a faintly dry texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Boulevard 21st Anniversary Fresh Hop Pale Ale finishes with orange or sweet clementine citrus notes.

Orange with a white head. Good citrus aroma and flavor with a solid malt body and a nice fruit finish.

Beer fest in Hermann, MO. Poured an orange color with an off white head. Aroma was grapefruit, citurs and pines. Flavor was very well balanced. Spruce, floral, then sweeter malts. Longer finish. A very good beer.

This was not a great IPA, a bit faint and thin Nice head and some lacing and some citrus fragrance but certainly nothing special

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2011 -- note, 13 month taste, much the same but more malty, the hops still cover so much ground it is ridiculous. I don’t know how much longer it will stand age but it is the best pale ale I’ve ever had. -- original rate- Really enjoyed this one. Savored out of a 750 ml in a goblet. Pours a caramel like orangish hue with a couple fingers of off white head. It does taste a little like their pale ale but really big. There is a big malt body, i can taste barley but the hops are all over the place quickly covering it. It is like you get the best of every kind of hop quality, a little oily, bitter, slightly floral but more grassy, lemony citrus, its all here. Floral green grass dry finish, this is the best hop driven beer from Boulevard. I wish i could buy this in a 6 pack year round. Instead i won?t see it again.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear copper pour with a huge beige head. Malty nose with citrusy and grassy hops. Flavor starts with malt, but moves quickly to grass and grapefruit before a malty and piney finish.
