COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With roots in two of today’s most popular brewing styles, 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer is the result of careful cultivation by our brewers and cellarmen. Their efforts to craft a hybrid yielded a bumper crop of flavor; a delightfully distinctive ale with the aroma of an IPA and the refreshing taste of a wheat beer.

In short: A tart and fruity-hoppy wheat base ale. Very good.
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed fresh one week after purchase from a Kansas store.
The look: Cloudy dark yellow body topped by a medium white head with medium retention.
In long: Nose is dominantly hoppy blending with the fruity esters of wheat beer creating an inviting aroma that is a mix of pineapples, grapefruits and bananas. Taste offers a very solid wheat backbone, fresh bakery white bread, fresh bananas, sharp bitter grapefruits, hops resin, freshly squeezed lemons, medium yeast presence. Medium tartness, low-medium bitterness. My bottle lacked a bit of carbonation which is surprising coming from a mass produced Boulevard 12oz bottle. The lack of carbonation made the beer feel a bit heavier than it certainly is. I enjoyed this beer despite the low carbonation and I’m sure I would love it with a more active carbonation. A nice beer my wife brought me back from a business trip, and when I miss my wife because she is away on business I just type stuff in Google because it finishes all my sentences with stuff I didn’t mean.

12 oz. bottle- Pours hazy golden with a nice one finger head. Aroma is bursting with citrusy hops, fruity and bitter, I do also get the wheat. The taste is the same, citrusy hops, but the hops also have a resinous quality without being all that piney. The wheat makes this smooth, the hops add lots of citrus and resin, good beer.

I’m not getting so much hops, but I’m getting tons of fruit sweetness, and by God this is a delicious beer. There is hops in the finish, but by then you’re so happy about the body that you couldn’t care less.

Smells like an IPA, tastes like a wheat. Interesting concept and not a bad beer, but I really wish the taste would have matched the aroma.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy light gold with a creamy/bubbly white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy. Mixed hop. Med body. Flavor is fruity/wheaty. There’s a certain problem with this hopped up wheat - suggests something of an off-flavor. But to concentrate on the hop - it’s hoppy, finishing dry with some suggestions of grapefruit rind.

Interesting "hoppy wheat" experiment works pretty well. Pine and citrus aroma. Taste is lemon, grapefruit and bread.

Really like this combination of hop and wheat. Beautiful color and just the right balance. Not too much skewed toward the hop side. Great for the holiday season. Would buy again without hesitation.

Fragrance is really nice pours with a wonderful white head and is really a refreshing brew. Just the right blend of hops for a wheat beer. really different well brewed. Great summer beer, (even in the winter)

Hoppy IPA-like aroma only with lemon subbing for grapefruit. Very pale, cloudy yellow, more like lemonade than beer. Taste is an odd juxtaposition of bitter and sweet, with a funky spiced bread aftertaste. Light enough to be refreshing, zesty enough to bite back. Surprising that more brewer’s don’t try something like this.

Pours pale yellow with a thin white head. Smells hoppy...and lemon peel. Tastes nice...somewhat fruity...with a bready finish.
