With roots in two of todayís most popular brewing styles, 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer is the result of careful cultivation by our brewers and cellarmen. Their efforts to craft a hybrid yielded a bumper crop of flavor; a delightfully distinctive ale with the aroma of an IPA and the refreshing taste of a wheat beer.

Pours yellow-gold and cloudy with a thick white head. Aroma is sweet fermented grains and faint spice. Taste is a silky smooth light wheat ale. The wheat is very prominent in this one and blended well with the syrupy sweetness. There is a mildly bitter mid and finish (long finish) from the hops. Not bad.

Not at Gumballhead or Sumpin levels but a good hoppy wheat with grassy and lightly citrusy notes on a lean wheat body. Refreshing and tasty, and nothing like an IPA despite the hoppy inclination.

Bottle at home. Aroma is mainly citrus and piney hops, some light wheat and hay notes. Flavor is lightly hopped with citrus notes the most. wheat stands out more in the flavor. Not bad.

I bought this on clearance at Trader Joeís in St. Louis. Itís past date but was still very tasty. Piney and subtly sweet. Not as awesome as my favorite hoppy IPA by Modern Times, but right up there in style and overall satisfaction. A++++, would buy again.

Pours hazy golden with low white head. Aroma of citrus, wheat, light pine, mango. Taste is sweetish initially followed by light hoppy, almost orange like. Body is light and smooth, average carbonation.

Strong leafy and citrus ipa aroma. Light hazy yellow pour. Starts subtle leafy bitter with a lemon zest and floral middle. Finishes with a fresh zest and slight mellow leaf.

Lemony, musty malt aroma. Great label. Foggy blonde, icy white head. Nice session beer. Good malting and pleasant hoppiness. Nothing fancy, but solid. Very, very light diacetyl. A nice blonde wheat ale. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Best by: 08/10/14 -- So it is past its best by date. Iím pretty disappointed by that. Appearance: Hazy light golden body with a fluffy white head that stands very well and leaves some spotted lacing. Aroma: Very fresh hop aroma. Spicy with a bit of earthy bay leaf smell to it. Itís very nice. Taste: More of that spicy earthy flavor to it. It taste a bit like thyme. A hint of mint in the backgrond. I donít get any wheat flavor which is a bit disappointing, and there isnít any perceptible yeast character. Mouthfeel: Itís smooth and light, medium bitterness, and a bit drier than Iíd expect from a wheat beer...it also doesnít have the presence on the palate that most wheat beers have. Overall: Despite being past the best by date on the bottle, the beer was good. I think it could be because the store I bought it from kept it refrigerated. The only thing that might identify this beer as a wheat beer to me is by the appearance...there really was no tell-tale sign in the aroma or flavor. The hop aroma and flavors are excellent. If you are an APA fan where you want a lot of hop flavor and aroma but not a ton of bitterness, this is right up your alley. If you donít like wheat beers, donít be turned off by this beer because it doesnít show. If you do like wheat beers, this leaves a lot to be desired. Overall it is a really good beer though, and the framework really relies on the hops...and if it were a house that frame would be made of solid oak.
