Headbanger (1012), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jul 9, 2008 16.9 oz bottle-Bakalář Light Dark Beer on label. A light amber body with a small ring for a head and an aroma of skunk and soy sauce. Taste of the same with a caramel malt taste on the back end. The skunk taste does not come out. Not bad but not good.
motelpogo (4124), Plzen, Czech Republic Oct 1, 2008 on tap at u svateho rocha in plzen. quite simple, even for a polotmavy. amber with a slender but lasting white head, tinned peach and caramel aroma, hints of lemonade iceblocks and rye with a lightly bitter finish JPDIPSO (4344), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jan 5, 2008 Have not had a light dark beer since Blatz Dark (America’s great light dark beer). True amber color with a thin lid of light beige bubbles. Toasted bread and just a hint of herbal hops with caraway and rosemary. Light brown sugar start with a earthy malt background. Fairly watery at times. Some light spice in the finish and linger. Also a bit of licorice and caramel floating about. Interesting, but not that entertaining. Cornfield (4409), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 22, 2007 Drinking from a green bottle of Bakalář Light Dark Beer... what an intriguing name! The word "Amber" is also on the bottle and it shows a 4.5% ABV rather than the 4.8% listed here, but this is clearly the Bakalář brew that I hadn’t tried yet. It pours a thin amber body with a dinkus white head that rapidly reduces into a ring around the glass. The aroma is sweet and bready with a generous dose of caramel. It’s a tad thin but manages to deliver flavors of caramel and toffee with a light grassy/floral hop bitterness. Not bad.

Sal’s Beverage World, Elmhurst, IL
Quack-Duck (1973), Bodensee, Germany Dec 15, 2007 draught at Vanocni Pivni Trhy Praha 2007. Clear amber/mahogany colour, creamy head. Wonderful aroma of caramel. Full-bodied, malty with hints of caramel, toffee and chocolate. Hoppy in the lingering finish.
