COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The smooth, soft maltiness of Boss Tom’s is complemented by a restrained hop presence. The mild warming quality of the beer makes it perfect for days when there is still a bit of a chill in the air. The beer finishes with a lingering dryness, and just a hint of caramel. Pale, Munich, Pilsner, Caramel and Wheat malt. Hallertau and Perle hops.

Tap a Flying Saucer. Deep, clear golden, with an average off-white head. Not much to the aroma: mild hints of grain, grass and toast. Taste is about the same: Light malts with a small hop addition. Medium bodied. It’s drinkable, and there’s nothing bad about it, but if there are other options, there just really isn’t much point.

Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. Aroma is lacking. The taste starts almost sweet & finishes clean. Very smooth & drinkable. Nothing really stands out but it’s ok. For 6%, it goes down quite nice.

A deeply golden beer, with plenty of body despite restrained malty sweetness. Light, crisp bitterness. Not a particularly useful beer at that strength, but there is character here.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 5/8/12

Aroma: The nose is fairly subtle, with some light grains, pale malts, grass, and a little dough
Appearance: A nice looking pour that’s a clear, bright golden color with a thick, lasting white foam atop it
Flavor: The taste is mostly malty, grains, dough, light-medium sweetness, and a light grassy bitterness
Palate: Light bodied (leaning a touch toward medium), with some smoothness, and average carbonation
Overall Impression: Unfortunately, the pour is probably the stand-out portion of beer. The rest of it was fine, but unexciting. Not a great beer, but perhaps a bit underrated.

Light clear gold color with white head. The aroma is light musty cereal grain. Taste wise it is similar with a strong pilsner must that is not terribly pleasing but it follows into a nice smoother sweeter cereal grain flavor, with a subdued hop balancing act that never overtakes the grain. The light body and slightly sweety finish lends itself to big gulps and makes the beer enjoyable to drink, although not the greatest Bock beer ever

Aroma: Caramel and bready malt, with a background of earthy hops. Appearance: Light copper with a nice white head. Flavor: Dominated by citrusy hops, some malt flavor in the background. Mouthfeel: Medium body, high carbonation. Overall Impression: I found this beer unbalanced, too much hop flavor and not enough malt.

Malty, slightly sweet brew... probably a little thiner mouthfeel than most bocks I have had... I usually enjoy this style of beer in the fall but to me this seemed like more of a summertime brew. That said, Boulevard has better options for a summertime beer such as their pilsner.

It’s a lager, and not a unique or interesting one. However alcohol is hidden well.

bottled. pours crystal clear pale copper with a moderate white head. aromas of grass, bread and tin. sweetness with almost no sour. light bodied, thin; finishes with an odd flat dull feel. not my type.
