Nice bock. It’s a shame, but people’s "issue" with this beer is that it’s a heller bock, not a DIPA or Belgian or RIS. This is a very good example of a German bock. Nice pale golden color, light straw sweetness in the nose. Well balanced palate. Finishes clean, no off flavors.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mbgrayson (374) - Anaconda, Montana, USA - JUL 2, 2011
Pours a clear gold, with thin white head. Aroma is light with mild notes of hops and malt. Taste is malty with notes of hops, but fairly well balanced. I agree that it finishes dry, with a hint of carmel. Not bad all in all, but not great either.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 NobleSquirrel (2671) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 1, 2011
Bottle at a homebrew meetup. I really am not sure what people’s issue with this beer is, it’s pretty damn good. Anyway, Pours a deep gold with a resilient head. The nose is crisp pils malt, light hopping and a biscuity fullness. On taste, round and full malt profile. Melanoidins and baked bread, light hop note. Really nice malt profile. Medium bodied. Finish is clean. Damn fine bock...
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 benfergy (151) - Valley City, North Dakota, USA - JUN 22, 2011
Boss Tom’s has an orange appearance. The aroma is very malty, and the malt is toasty. There’s some yeast as well in the aroma. The taste is rather tart, but not outright sour. The palate is average. No particular quality about this beer is outstanding, but somehow it has a good quality that I can’t quite pinpoint; I just want to keep drinking. Overall, I’d say that you should give it a try.

bottle. Pours gold with small white head. Aroma of grain, not much detectable. Flavor is at first malty sweet with fresh hay, some butter, caramel. Somewhat bland finish. Overall a nice, drinkable, sessionable bock, with a clean and refreshing taste, but nothing to write home about.

Malty and grainy with hints of caramel. Very decent session type beer. I will try this one again.
