Bottle - 12oz. Pours a dark brown body with low carbonation and a thick, lasting beige foamy head. Robust, complex malty/hoppy aroma with vineous, oaky, molasses, and fruity hints. Its well balanced malty/hoppy taste carries brown sugar, oaky, and roasty notes. Ends with a long, strong, warming bittersweet finish. Very enjoyable.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 OKplus (560) - Oklahoma, USA - JUN 11, 2013
12oz poured into a pint glass.
Review from notes:
A – Pours a garnet hued dark brown, 2 fingers of firm tan head than retains very well. Loads of horizontal lacing.
S – Rich chocolate and caramel, roasted malts, creamy coffee.
T – Follows the nose with milk chocolate and caramel, slightly toasted, citrus pops up in the middle and adds bitterness, hints of coffee underneath, hints of vanilla, finishes with roasted chocolate malts. Bitterness flows into the finish a bit.
M – Moderate carbonation, silky feel.
Very focused porter that drinks like kinda like a stout. Chocolate, coffee, and roasted with a balanced sweetness. Good mouthfeel. Very impressed by this one.

Hops are pronounced including bitterness. Malt is complex but the beer is a bit thin, particularly for the level of carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Elwood (2552) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a deep brown with a nice tan head. The nose has a bit of roast but leans more towards the brown bread and cocoa powder side. The flavor follows the nose with a hint of coffee coming out as the brew warms. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A very enjoyable porter. Recommended.
