A dry, medium-bodied dark ale. Its intense dark-roasted barley malt flavor is perfectly balanced by complex hop character.

12 oz bottle in trade with Soonah. Pours a dark brown with mahogany edges with a good 1/2" beige head that slowly recedes leaving rings of brown lace. Roasted malt aroma with a hint of coffee. Moderate in body. Flavor is chocolate malt with some coffee and a hint of vanilla. Nice porter.

The aroma is quite faint, sort of a bready sweetness is the best I can make out. Good tan head, clings and lasts for a while. Opaque, but luminescent around the outside -- deep dark brown in the middle, and tinctures of caramel brown frame it. Subtle flavors come through more in the aftertaste -- the carbonation hits first and leaves a bready, roasted chocolate flavor . . . nuts, too. Not getting much coffee. Perhaps too lively w/ the CO2 . . . a decent, quaffable porter. I could definitely drink a few of these in one sitting . . .

bottle from citywide. pours a dark brown with a big crater foamy tan head. great head retention and lace. chocolate, coffee, toasted and roasted malts, cereal, nuts, orangepeel, and some floral hops. pretty good stuff. Maybe I’m just in the mood for beer, who knows!

Pours like black coffee. Huge tan head that stuck to the glass. Aroma was a little thin and smelled more sweet than roasty. Taste is a bit thin and tart. No coffee taste at all like I was hoping for. An easy drinking porter.

Bottle. Nose is slightly bitter, but mostly a nice tobacco leaf and roasted malt smell. Flavor is initially the roasty nose, with a nice tartness midway through, a bit of bitter chocolate and just a slight hop bitterness to round out the dry finish. Uber-drinkable porter. Another winner from Boulevard.

12oz bottle. Deep brown, a tinge of red at the thinner part of my glass, with a foamy tan head that sits pretty atop the brew. Nose brings some chocolaty malt and a little coffee-like roasted note. A bit more of the same in the flavor, although there’s a stronger hop note throughout. Doesn’t quite have the big body of a porter like Black Butte, which is something I tend to look for in a nice porter.. Well-constructed and not too shabby, but not really a top porter.

12 oz bottle of let down. I was hoping for a nice toasty/chocolatey porter but instead I got a bottle that made me wish it was a yuengling Black & Tan. Poured an okay looking deep dark brown with a large slightly foamy light beige head. Aroma just wasn’t there with hardly any detectable notes but what I could pick up was notes sour vinegar and chocolate, green leafy vegtables and wet earth(really a nice way of saying mud). Body was itself was thin but the mouthfeel was full with some fizzing up when it passes your lips, strong stingy carbonation. Flavor was actually even more watered down then te weak aroma on the front side some sour vinegar and light cheap sugary chocolate. The aftertaste kicks in with some decent roasted and burnt malts and that’s it. Not much here at all.
