| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 1, 2009 Pours black but lets lots of burgundy light shine through under a perfect creamy tan head. Roasted malts are the predominate smell and taste, but are highlighted by a touch of coffee and just a bit of chocolate. Hops aren’t very apparent in the aroma, but come through as bittering agents in the finish of this brew. Medium body, definitely lighter than the Dry Stout. Great beer, as I’ve come to expect from my hometown brewery. iabeerguy (177), Iowa, USA
